Your story publishes

Your story on the mayor and **** of the intern publishes the next morning on the front page of the Tribune. It's an instant hit and is trending worldwide when you wake up. You check the news and the mayor has been arrested by the FBI, while the entire police department is under investigation. At the same time, Congress is looking into impeachment hearings for the president.

Checking social media, you find that many people are calling you a hero. Some even say you should be instated as police commissioner or even mayor. Next you check your email and your inbox is flooded with congratulatory messages. There's one from Laura and she's already planning media interviews for you on Monday morning. You chuckle to yourself at Laura's remarkable change in attitude towards you. She had all but forgotten about the **** by now.

You're about to step into the shower when your phone rings on the bathroom counter.

"Hello?" you answer.

"Is this John Colins?" the voice on the other end asks.

"Yes, who is this?"

"I'm Windstress. I represent a special organization of special people with powers."

Windstress? What sort of name was that, you wonder.

"We've been watching you since you've come into possession of the magic rings and we'd like to meet with you. Think of it as a job interview."

"Wait. Hold on, I don't know what you think you know--" you start to protest. How did she know about your rings?

"We know everything. We're the guardians of balance. Be at this address in 2 hours, don't be late." Windstress recites an address which is somewhere in Washington, DC, and then she hangs up.

Still holding the phone, you stare at your reflection in the mirror, wondering what you've gotten yourself mixed up in.
