Your squadron loses

Two of the enemy fighters immediately pick on you. They'd likely seen your position and correctly assumed you were the commander. You quickly roll to the side while firing, hoping to throw off their targeting solutions and with satisfaction see one of them go red as a confirmed kill. You must have hit the cockpit.

Ai was maneuvering to the right to try and get a shot on the remaining fighter as it blazed past your position, her fighter's flip was perfect but she went red right before she managed to get a lock. Your own fighter suffering 'damage' to an engine as you tried to support her.

You'd been **** to focus on your own part of the fight before the overall engagement and now you saw that it hadn't gone well. The rest of your squadron had suffered heavy losses in the initial pass. The enemy had taken losses as well but not nearly enough.

Leaving the enemy free to swing around and wipe up the last of the survivors.

You managed to knock out one more before your own display went totally red. Your part of the battle over. The enemy moving on to destroy most of the unsuspecting bombers.

You would just have to hope that your fleet could carry the day. Otherwise, you'd soon be finding yourself carrying your next daughter.
