Your mom

Sonya hummed with a smile on her face while putting her groceries in her car's trunk. Humming wasn't something she usually did, but today she was happy and she wanted the world to know it.

The reason for her happiness? Being outside alone!

You see, after the sudden and unexpected return of magic, the Doe's family had decided on a set of rules all the family members had to follow to ensure their and the family's safety. And one of these rules was to never, ever go out alone.

Sonya had agreed, deeming it as a good idea. It was a scary new world out there, full of magic...and monsters. The news constantly talked about helpless people getting eaten by strange creatures or disappearing to never be found again.

Yet, as time passed and the situation came more and more under control, she'd started to dislike this rule more and more. She loved her family, but she needed some time alone too. So when her son offered to accompany her to the supermarket, she's refused. He'd been angry, but she was an adult woman who could make her own decisions.

And so Sonya hummed, happy with her life, unaware that, hidden between the trees of the forest bordering the supermarket's parking lot, someone was observing her.
