Chapter 6 by jessi010111 jessi010111

Does the worm catch you?

Your leg becomes too numb to escape

As you first resume your sprint out of this beastly cavern, you feel confident you can escape. However, the numbing secretions from the floor tendrils are proving to be more potent than you had hoped. The stings on your hands are traveling up your arms at a rapid pace, and you are unable to feel any part of your arms below your shoulders. This makes running more difficult than you'd have expected, but the biggest problem is the sting you apparently received on your ankle. You can't feel your left foot at all, and it's starting to rise up your leg as well. The ground isn't solid or even, so not getting that sensory information from your foot and leg as you run is proving more and more difficult.

As the muscles in your left leg start to be unresponsive, you begin to get exhausted, as your other muscles compensate. You're running with a strange limp, and the terror of thinking what will happen if the creature reaches you isn't helping. You stop just for a moment to catch your breath, being worried you'll trip and fall if you aren't careful. Your balance is extremely compromised. However, every moment counts. The numbing sensation has rapidly spread up your entire leg, and you can no longer use it at all. With the exit in sight, you resume your escape, and at your first attempt to use your left leg, you collapse to the ground.

Falling on your front, your useless hands are unable to help you turn around to see if the worm has followed you. Your cognitive abilities and vision are fading quickly as well. You try to remain calm, but the horror that surely awaits you is causing an **** panic and your breathing is erratic and irregular. The last thing you can remember is being slowly lifted off the ground and hearing wet, squelching sounds before you black out.

Where are you when you awake?
