Chapter 9 by Yabusa Yabusa

Who does Jan eventually decide to possess, and when?

Your childhood friend

A week had come and gone, with no appearance from Jan. This worried you immensely, as you hadn't even had a chance to talk to Jan again, to try to calm her down or better understand her position in everything. Jane, naturally, thought her ghost repellant techniques were actually effective, rather than the fact that Jan likely felt miserable about her show of **** earlier. She had been caught up in the moment, and her powers made it easy for things to get carried away, if she acted upon them. Maybe things have calmed down now, and she could have a more proper conversation with you.

But... you didn't know exactly where to find her. She was literally ghosting you... you hadn't caught sight of her since the day of the dinner party. What a mess that ended up being... but that was its own problem.

You did have something to look forward to: your best friend from when you were kids was going to be in town! Samantha had been a good friend with you through high school before you moved to Spiral City, and then you sort of lost touch. Sam had been one of the biggest tomboys you'd ever known, doing whatever she could to hide the fact that she had an incredible body under big hoodies with various sports teams logos on them. You know she'd grown out of the oversized hoodies, but she never became what one might define as a 'lady'. You weren't sure you could picture Sam in a dress, she'd never even touched one.

Jane said she had errands to run this weekend, and that she was going to go give Emilia her final report, as that was what Emilia asked for after the ghostly powers expired. That was a relief, since with Sam around, you'd finally be able to just relax and have fun. You and Sam were far more honest with each other than you could be with your fiancée about a lot of things, even if it was just over text message.

The doorbell rang, and you let the grinning Sam inside. "John! It's been forever, bud!" She was still wearing her auburn hair fairly short, though lengthier than the boyish cuts she'd sometimes tried in school. She had on some baggy cargo pants, as you remembered from school, masking her body from the waist down pretty effectively. You were surprised to see her in just a tank top, though it was a bit dirty, looking like she had been working on a car or something with the bits of grease in the fabric. Instead of wearing a sweatshirt or anything like she had normally done, it was tied around her waist, just in case. You hadn't ever been able to gauge Sam's chest size in the bulky fabrics, but with just the tank top, she wasn't that much smaller than Jane, which surprised you immensely. You tried not to stare though, focusing back on her face with a smile of your own.

"Really glad you could make it for a weekend, Sam. Things have been pretty... crazy around here. It's been all just Jane's family and friends the past while. And I just have to nod and be polite, but I can't talk about a single thing with them. Plus... other complications."

"Other complications? Like what? You say that like your apartment's haunted or something." Sam reaches into her backpack, pulling out a couple of beers that she brought over to share, handing you one before sprawling out in her chair. She'd come prepared with beer and snacks for the upcoming baseball game.

"Well... just concerns about my neighbor, is all. She hasn't been acting like herself."

Sam cracks open her beer, taking a long sip. "Girls planning weddings, neighbor troubles... sounds like you're living the easy life, John! Though I guess I get it, Jane can be kind of a handful. But I'll tell you crazy! Crazy is a third of the calls coming into the station being for fires caused by gender reveal parties. We have to scrub the trucks just to get the damned blue and pink chalk residue off of 'em... If you ever have a kid, just so you know, friends don't let friends throw gender reveal parties. Just don't do it, save yourself some pain there! Like, just, give the baby a break. I'm sure the kid will reveal their gender when they figure it out all on their own, anyway."

You snorted, taking a sip from your beer as you turned on the television for the pre-game. "I shouldn't be surprised that you, slayer of gender norms, are not fond of pink and blue mushroom clouds hurtling towards the sky."

"Haha, right? Look, all I'm saying is that parents are obsessed with something that could just be flat-out wrong for that kid! It's just--ooh, that was weird."

You glanced over, looking at a slightly puzzled Sam. "Did you leave a window open or something? Just got a really chilly rush. It was weird."

Right before you were able to say something, Sam threw her head back, twitching a few times, before her eyes rolled back in her head... when she looked back at you, her ocean-blue eyes had taken on a greener hue. "I, uh... I'm sorry to do this, John. But I felt it would be more comfortable to talk to you when Jane was away, and she's been, well... just constantly here, constantly around you..."

You bolted upright, putting the beer down as you looked at your friend closer. "Jan?"

Sam nodded. This loud, brash tomboy's mannerisms and speech had totally changed, as Sam sat up, bringing her legs together and putting her hands on her lap as she looked at you. It was the most feminine thing you'd ever seen Sam do, confirming that this wasn't Sam trying to play a prank on you or something. "Is this... I mean, do you mind if we talk now? I don't want to intrude, uh, too much, but..."

"I mean, you're in my best friend, making her behave differently, but... just don't hurt her, I guess." You sighed a little, relieved that Jan hadn't up and vanished completely, but also relieved that she sounded back to her normal self, in a way. "What was up with a week ago though? You really put a fright in us..!"

Sam looked away for a moment. "I'm ashamed I was like that... kind of. You have to understand, this ghost power? Without a physical body, it's like being unchained. It's easy to go too far. I had to spend some time trying possessing others and anchoring myself to their emotional states to remind myself how to feel human, even! If I didn't, I think I would have done some very rash things." She blushes a little, looking down. "But, I do, uh... I do kind of want to be a little rash. I think I deserve it."

"What do you mean?"

Sam looked up, and she began moving closer to you, leaving her chair and joining you on the couch. "I'd like one day with you all to myself, at least. After that, if you want me to stay, I'll stay, if you want me to go, I'll go, I'll understand... but I hope you'll let me stay, somehow. Jane is out, this might be my only chance. I'm sorry to interrupt your day with your friend, but... please?"

Jan's pleading eyes, via Sam's friendly face, were too much for you to bear. "I... guess. Are you really gonna use Sam for this though? Doesn't seem too fair to her, she's missing a day with me and, uh, whatever you might have planned, I don't think she--"

"She does. She did. She still does." Jan interrupted you to spill Sam's secrets. "I can see her feelings swirling around in her mind, even though she's kind of asleep right now. She liked you and still likes you, but she didn't want it to get in the way of your friendship. I think this could be good for her, just as it's good for me, as kind of like a... parting gift? I'll wake her up and work it out with her, to get her blessing. Just... give me a few minutes, okay? Can I borrow your bedroom just to take care of that in private?"

You nodded, motioning to the door. "All yours. But if she says no, then you have to find someone else for your day. Got it?"

With a smile, Sam hugged you and hurried off to the bedroom. "I fully understand!"

You rested your head in your hands, forgetting about the game on TV as you waited. You didn't even know how a conversation like that might go between Samantha and Jan... how does one ask to borrow another body for a day so they can have their way with someone else? Talk about weird...

Five minutes pass, then fifteen. You looked to the closed bedroom door, slightly worried. Around the thirty minute mark, you stood up and knocked on the bedroom door. "Jan? Sam? Everything okay?"

Sam opened the door, and you couldn't believe your eyes--the girl before you was Sam, but you'd never seen her like this! Gone were the cargo pants, a tomboyish Samantha staple. Jan had borrowed some of Jane's clothes from the closet, dressing Sam up in a sexy red dress that hugged her curves, showcasing Sam's body in a way you had never witnessed. Her D-cups didn't stretch the dress to the limit the way they did when Jane wore this dress, but Sam still looked stunning all the same. Her shapely hips and toned backside were no longer hidden from view, and her gorgeous legs were on full display! Couple that with some modest makeup and a carefully-applied style to Sam's hair to create a neat and tidy style that still felt sexy...

Sam grinned, blushing a little. "Hey bud." That was definitely Sam talking... Jan wasn't that good at impressions. "I take it back. Your situation IS way crazier than mine..."

You quirked an eyebrow, taking a moment to collect your thoughts as you stepped back to give Sam another pass with your eyes. "W-whuh... Sam... are you really okay with this? I've never even, I... I wouldn't have guessed..." you couldn't figure out a single thing to say to her in that moment as you were bombarded with this vision of beauty before you.

Sam laughs, stepping out of the bedroom. "Your neighbor had some ideas, and she knew how to execute. Look, she and I, we're in the same boat. You're marrying some girl who, frankly, is a nutcase. You made that choice, I'm not gonna try to change your mind. But I'll be honest, I came here today thinking I have maybe one more chance to kind of get an answer to the 'what if' that has been floating in my mind, because I frankly could've been good for you. I had no idea how I was gonna do that though! Jan, however, she's got this whole thing figured out. At least she knows what to do in a dress... so here's the deal. Jan's in me, I'm in a dress, as long as we can listen to the game then I'm gonna let her make this a day to remember for all parties involved..."

Her demeanor changed, as Sam began a slow walk towards you, with a new expression of elation. "Sam was lovely as she was, but I made her irresistible so she and I could show you what we could do for you, together... she and I will make a great team to show you a good time. Are you ready to be amazed, John?"

You gulped. What you saw before you was incredible. How could you say no to the kindness of Jan mixed with the friendly aura of Sam, especially with what they did to go all out with Sam's body? Could you go through with it? What if Jane came home early? So much could happen that could change the course of your relationships in a single afternoon...

Let the duo do their thing? Or are you even left alone the whole time?
