You steer the ship further

“Get us further!” you order.

Elena turns to starboard the third time, and the pirates follow. You continue to exchange shots in the blackness, and blow after blow lands on the enemy vessel. At one point, their shield begins to flicker. Then you hit them again, and it ceases.

“Keep firing!” you order. You want to take care of the main gun first, and deal with the ship later. Then you freeze, as you realize the pirates have a final trick up their sleeve: They suddenly stop the acceleration of their vessel, and they manage to avoid the next projectile. With the additional benefit of you running yourself right in front of that cannon.

“Shit!” you raise your voice, as the pirates hit your vessel. Luckily, there is still some distance between you, and your shield is somehow able to absorb the blow. In the meantime Elena fires again, and lands a shot directly at their hull.

“Jamming is down!” Elena says.

“Punch it!” you raise your voice. And she is happy to comply with your order.

The Emerald Grace fires up her FTL drive, and you are finally away, escaping the ambush that could have ended with a different result so easily.
