You stand your ground

You watch Neil and his goons rush inside the ship, all the while you rest in the cover of your speeder. The notion of sudden **** that might reach you at any moment makes you extremely uncomfortable. Even so: you are convinced that this is your best option.

Some time later, he emerges, still in one piece, at his side only a few remaining crew members.

"Alright ladies, the deed is done. Let's get you back into your straitjackets!" he says with grin on his face.

Only to be confronted with your guns, the remaining four people mowed down within the iteration of a second.

"If I die, you also die," he says, looking back at the corpses, his tone absent of emotion. You think the remote will be in his chest-pocket. But wherever he might reach, there is the two of you, and there is only one of him.

"The keys to our collars. Now," you demand, cold and calculated.

"How do I know that you won't shoot me?"

"You don't," you answer.

For a few seconds, you stare at each other, your guns held at the ready. Finally, Neil reaches to his pocket, which you let him, and tosses the key on the ground in front of you. Elena quickly grabs it, and unlocks both of your collars, all the while you still hold your guns at each other.

"Could have reached for the remote, just saying," he adds.

"Might have just lived long enough to shoot you," you answer.

You stare at each other for some time. Finally, Neil simply decides to walk back to his speeder, hop on it, and drive away, his gun pointed at you in the whole process.

"Should have thought of that," you note.

"Whatever! We just survived this!" Elena says with a smile. "Plus we can get all the loot!" she adds, her eyes twinkling.

Then she kisses you on the lips.
