Chapter 30

What event happened?
You have waited for the completion of your imprisonment in this cell. The dwarves have decided to move you to another location.
After three weeks of hard confinement in a cell, you have seen some results. Early in the morning you were rudely awakened by dwarven warriors. They hit you in the stomach with the shafts of their halberds. You had to have your sleep interrupted due to such unfriendly treatment. You'd like to try and grab the halberd of one of these dwarven warriors so you can at least beat up the dwarf fuckers a little. However, your body was so exhausted from the meager food you had been eating for the past weeks that you had to temporarily abandon thoughts of retribution for your offenders.
You stood up from the bed, feeling the weight of the shackles on your arms and legs. Dwarven warriors escorted you to the exit of this stone tower. At the exit you noticed a wagon, which was drawn by two horses, driven by one dwarf coachman. This wagon was surrounded by a group of armed dwarven warriors.
The dwarves **** you to go inside this small van. After this, the coachman whipped the horses and the van drove along the road in a northerly direction.
You could only see a small part of the surrounding landscape from the small windows in this van, which were covered with metal bars.
After many hours of riding in the van, you saw through the bars the high walls of a fortified dwarven city.
You thought with hatred: “Fucking dwarves! Vile dwarven shit-eating cocksuckers! This is probably the same dwarven fortress city of Dreygrul, to which I was supposed to come along with the caravan of the merchant Jodaz. But due to some incomprehensible accusations, I ended up to this city like a criminal in shackles!"
As you scanned the area through the van's bars, you saw that the walls of this dwarven fortress city were built of black granite. You thought that because of such material, the appearance of this city was gloomy and terrifying. You assume that the dwarven architects who built these walls and towers intended to achieve precisely this effect: to instill terror in any enemy who saw these structures.
As the van drove closer to the walls of this city, you saw a deep ditch of water that had been dug in front of these high walls. You heard the clanging of some mechanisms. The huge gates slowly lowered.
Soon, the work of the mechanisms invisible to you was completed. The drawbridge lowered so that the wagon and its accompanying armed dwarves could now cross the moat and enter the city.
So now the wagon and its accompanying dwarven warriors moved through the streets of the city. You looked through the bars at the streets of an unfamiliar dwarven city. The architecture and appearance of these streets gave you the impression of something strange. What you saw now in this dwarven city was completely different from what you had previously seen in human cities.
Finally, the van arrived at a large stone building. The van door opened. The armed dwarf warriors accompanying you **** you out of the wagon. You felt an unpleasant cold wind on your skin. You shivered due to discomfort, but unfortunately you did not have any warm clothes with you. Dwarven warriors surrounded you.
One of these dwarves said to you, using the words of the Orlanian language you know with a strong accent: "Now you go into that big building! Quickly! Otherwise we will beat you!"
You looked at a large stone building that had three floors, some sculptures on the facade, marble columns and steps. You slowly walked towards the entrance of this building, escorted by dwarven warriors. You went inside this building. Inside the building you saw a long corridor from which doors lead to separate interior rooms. You saw many people inside the building. Most of these persons were dwarves. Some of these persons had weapons in their hands and stood guard near the doors, others walked along the corridor, going from one room to another. Many of these persons were carrying in their hands piles of some kind of scrolls covered with signs unfamiliar to you.
A convoy of dwarven warriors led you into one of the interior rooms. There were many people in this large room, most of whom were dwarves.
This room was a spacious hall, in which there were a couple of dozen large wooden benches, a large wooden table and chairs near the far wall. You noticed that in this room there was a large metal cage in one of the corners of the room. You were **** into this cage. One of the dwarven warriors locked the door of this cage. The shackles from your hands and your feet were never removed.
You were in this cage for about an hour. You were feeling exhausted due to hunger, cold and agonizing anticipation, when suddenly a small group of dwarves entered the room, who were dressed in strict ceremonial clothes, which were covered with some symbols unknown to you. Judging by their appearance, these dwarves looked older than most of the other dwarves present in this room.
You thought, "These shit-headed dwarves probably hold some kind of positions of authority and control the rest of the dwarf fuckers."
The dwarf bosses sat down on chairs near a large wooden table. After that, all the people present in the hall (except for the dwarven warriors standing guard near the cage and near the doors) sat down on the benches.
One of the dwarven leaders said something loudly. You did not understand the meaning of his words. Then, a young dwarf who had no weapon approached your cage.
He told you: “Hello. I am an employee of this court. I know the Orlanian language. The chairman of the judicial consortium has instructed me to translate for you the speeches that will be made during the court hearing.”
Well, now the events taking place have become more clear to you: now you are in the courthouse, dwarf judges will determine your fate based on local laws.
Over the next couple of hours, you barely managed to understand the essence of the speeches being made. These speeches contained many complex legal terms, the meaning of which was unknown to you. The dwarf translator did not always have time to translate the speeches of the participants in the trial in full.
Among what you were able to remember were the following words spoken by the dwarven judges: “Ulkin Nordane, half-orc, subject of the Sacred Kingdom of Orlania. By occupation he was a guard of a trade caravan. Charged with the following points of the Code of Punitive Measures: Article 151, paragraph 1 - implementation smuggling of minerals, the import and export of which is prohibited by the laws of the Despotate of Yalann; article 157, paragraph 3 - obstruction of customs inspection by using prohibited magical charms; article 298, paragraph 4 - assistance in carrying out hostile espionage activities; article 98, paragraph 2 - attempt to attack a representative investigative authorities, in the performance of their official duties."
Most of the phrases you heard came as a surprise to you. After a couple of hours of the trial, the judge announced a break for half an hour. During a break, you asked the dwarf translator a question. You were interested in the essence of the charges brought against you.
The dwarf translator answered you: “I read the materials of your criminal case. Based on the materials of your case, it can be understood that you illegally transported a magic ring and magic armor across the border. Complex camouflage charms were placed on these items. When wearing the ring at the same time and armor, the magical auras of the objects produced a mutually masking effect. In this case, it would be very difficult to identify the fact that these objects were enchanted. But you did not wear this magical ring on your finger at the time of customs inspection. Therefore, the magicians who are part of the border guards were able to, although with great difficulty, to recognize the essence of the spell that was cast on this magic ring. Upon further research, it was revealed that this ring was inlaid with a mineral called iredisium. This light blue mineral is quite valuable and rare. Import and export of this mineral across the state border prohibited by law by private individuals. In this ring, a strong extra-communicative spell was placed on a small piece of this mineral."
You interrupt the dwarf translator's speech: "What the hell is this? What kind of fucking enchantment is this?"
The dwarf translator replies: “An extracommunicative charms allows you to perceive visual and auditory information at a great distance. Simply put, when this ring was put on your finger, everything you saw and heard could be seen and heard by a person who had one or more focused Iredisium crystals, enchanted to interact with your ring. That is, everything that you saw and heard was seen and heard by someone who was many tens or even hundreds of miles away from you. This kind of enchantment is an effective means of espionage. Therefore, you have serious problems with local law."
You almost scream: "Fuck! Fucking crappy bullshit! But I didn't want to spy on anyone! I'm not a spy! I didn't know anything!"
The dwarf translator says: "Calm down and don't shout. You have probably become the object of manipulation by some person unknown to you. Personally, I think that some criminals wanted to use you as a person who would secretly transport disguised magical objects across the border that were intended for espionage. And then these items would have been taken from you by the accomplices of these criminals. Now it is too late for you to do anything. After all, you did not cooperate with the investigation. I must tell you that ignorance does not exempt you from responsibility before the law."
After the break has ended, the hearing in your criminal case continues.
Over the next hour you hear a lot of words and you have trouble understanding what is said. But, thanks to the translator, you caught the meaning of the following phrases of the judge: “Aggravating circumstances are: the refusal of the accused person to cooperate with representatives of the investigative authorities; the probable premeditation of the crimes committed by the accused person. The court decides to find Ulkin Nordane guilty. The court decides to impose punitive measures for Ulkin Nordane full confiscation of property and lifelong hard labor in the fourth degree. The court appoints the place of serving the sentence as mine number 13-F, located in the Icebane Mountains region. At this point, the court hearing is declared closed."
After the hearing is over, you are released from the cell. Dwarven warriors accompany you to the same van in which you arrived in this dwarven city. You climb into that van again. You hear the coachman whipping the horses. The van is moving again. This time the van is heading north again. Through the bars you see the evening cloudy sky.
As the van and accompanying dwarven warriors leave this city, you fall asleep due to the exhaustion of your body and mind.
What will happen to you in the future? What place are you being taken to?
