Chapter 15 by Trom1806 Trom1806

There is light in the window of the house.

You go to the door and knock on the door.

You knock on the door and the little man opens the door. You are looking at this little man. He seems to be in his thirties. He wears some sort of white coat.

Greetings, would you be willing to allow me, a weary wanderer, to spend the night in your house? I agree to pay you for the night.

You declare that you want to spend the night in this house and pay for its use. The man nods and steps back, inviting you in. You enter and see a modest house.

The man shows you your bed. Before going to bed, you ask him: "What is your name? And what is the name of this village?"

He says his name is Murk and the village is Dirth.

What do you do for a living, Murk?

He tells you that he is a blacksmith.

You go to bed after spending the night in this modest house.

You woke up early in the morning. You have eaten (you have eaten three more of your bread cakes - now you have 5 bread cakes left). You are looking for Murk to pay him for the night in his house.

You find him in the kitchen where Murk is looking for some food to cook. Murk is puzzled by the fact that apart from a few loaves of bread, a small amount of salt and onions, he has nothing in the kitchen. Murk grumbles: "Recently, the food situation is very bad - taxes are rising, prices are rising, most of the food is taken to the capital as a payment for the noble aristocrats who own the land." You ask Murk: "Venerable Murk, how much should I pay you for a night's lodging in your house?"

Murk thinks for a moment, and then answers: “30 copper coins.” You bargain a little with Murk (by the way, in 11 years of service with the merchant Porberd, you have mastered the skill of eloquence quite significantly, as you often watched Porberd’s trade negotiations). As a result, he is a little reduces the price of the lodging and says that he agrees to take 15 copper coins. You give Murk 15 copper coins as payment for the lodging. So, you now have 33 silver coins left.

You ask Murk: "Venerable Murk, tell me if there is any merchant in this village of Dirth who can exchange silver coins for copper ones?"

Murk tells you, “I think Renold the cloth merchant can trade some silver coins for copper coins. You can find his trading post on the northern outskirts of our village."

You thank Murk and say goodbye to him.
