You get called to the principal office

You wake up and feel like today is gonna be a good day. You are unsure if the book will actually make Mrs. Nadia nicer to you but you figured it would be more helpful to think that it did. You do your morning routine and get to school without any trouble. You get to your locker and grab your things for first period as you hear an announcement that rings your very core. “Alex Johnson, please report to the principal office. Mrs. Nadia needs to have a word with you.”

You sigh and think, “Well, shit…I can say that today is gonna suck major donkey dick. What the hell did I even do to get called in first thing in the morning?” Fellow classmates chirp about what you could have done to be summoned first thing in the morning as you approach the admin office. You enter and approach the secretary’ and say, “I’m Alex Johnson, hear to see Mrs. Nadia…”

She picks up her phone and tells her boss that you are here. The secretary puts down the phone and says, “She’s ready for you, Alex.”

You approached the closed the door and knock to hear her voice say, “Hurry in, Alex, and then we can get down to business.” You swallow down some spit as you feel your throat had dried up as you make your way into the office. She says, “Have a seat, Alex.” Your heart starts pounding and you start to feel the sweat building from what she is about to say. She stares at you for a minute with her hands in front of her face as you wrack your brain on what to even say.

You try to break the silence as you start to apologize, “Mrs. Nadia, I…I’m sorry…” She holds up her hand like a stop sign as you immediately stop speaking. She clears her throat and stands up to look out the window. The silence is ripping you apart as you begin to squirm in your chair, hoping she just says something. She giggles and then it becomes a chuckle until she starts to laugh out of control as you are confused why she is laughing.

Nadia says, “Sorry, Alex! I was trying to put up this front that you were in big trouble, but I couldn’t keep up the act. How are you doing this morning?” You are a mess of emotions and confusion over what just happened. You finally say, “Uh…I was doing good before having to come in here. Then I was absolutely terrified that I did something bad, which I can undoubtedly say I haven’t. Now I’m just a confused mess.”

Nadia came over from the window and sat on her desk right in front of you while still chuckling. She wipes her tears, let out her breath and said, “Once again I apologize as I was waiting for you to contest your innocence. Since you didn’t say anything, I just kept going with it. I did want to talk to you about yesterday. I feel like I left you on a bad note and wanted to see what I could do to work with you better.” You were flabbergasted as this was crazy out of character for your principal and you thought, (Yes! The book actually worked! This is gonna make these study sessions enjoyable and actually useful.)

You break away from your thoughts, “I appreciate that, Mrs. Nadia…”

She stops you there and says, “Alex, you can just call me Nadia. You can drop the Mrs. when it’s the two of us. We know each other well enough now.”

You are confused by that statement but continue, “…Nadia…I think I was also not being helpful with your attempts to work with me as well. I appreciate that we can work on this together.”

She smiles and pats your head, “Good boy! I look forward to seeing you after school. So be a good boy and run along to first period.” You grab your things and head for the door.

You turn around and genuinely smile as you say, “ I look forward to it…Nadia.” You head to your class excited for the after school session with Nadia so hopefully your day goes by quickly.
