You get an unexpected date

Morning came, and you woke up with your head throbbing and proceeded to go on autopilot to do your morning routine. Showering, brushing your teeth and making everyone breakfast. At this point, the Islanders all expected you to make breakfast, and there were diminishing returns for making it for them and you suspected negative consequences for not making them. You were still elated from being able to stay another week that you didn’t mind today.

After breakfast, you sought out Paige who remained by herself on her hammock, and you decided you want to clear things between the two of you and discuss her feelings and yours. The video and AMA gave you a lot of questions you wanted to confirm with her and possibly move forward within your relationship. There was also Jenna to talk to, but you felt her mind wasn’t entirely made up with Tom and you wanted her to have time to work that out while you work things out with Paige.

Approaching her cautiously like a stray cat, you felt it would be good to open first. “Are you feeling better?”

Paige nods, not turning her head to look at you.

“You don’t seem like yourself today,” you say.

“I’ve… never been in this situation before,” Paige says. “There’s a lot going in my mind, sorry.”

Mine too.

“Paige, it’s not your fault,” you say. “That’s just the way the island is. Any of the girls could have saved Jamie, but they didn’t. I’m grateful you saved me.”

“I just don’t want to look like the bad guy in all this...” Paige answers, frowning and then adds.

“I know what they probably think about me on the internet at this point. Paige led Jamie on. Paige is only sticking with Matt to win the money cause he’s popular. Paige is only on this show for money and followers,” Paige says, doing mocking voices.

“First off, who gives a fuck what the internet thinks. Second, how do you know I’m popular?” You ask.

“It’s obvious, isn’t it? They keep sending you on dates, camera guys always follow you the most, they ask you more than anyone to go to the confessional booths,” Paige says and adds. “They probably think… what I feel for you isn’t real.”

Looking around you do suddenly notice a couple of cameras focused on you and Paige.

“They sent me on ONE date... but go back to that thing… You feel something for me?” You ask.

Before she could respond, a chime comes from your phone. Not a buzz but a note. It was a text message note. You never have gotten one before.

“Ah fuck,” You say, scanning it quickly and getting the gist of it.

“GUYS, I HAVE A TEXT!” You shout. This is something you had to announce if you got an official text from the showrunners.

You eye Paige who got up and focused her eyes on you and you could see the wheels spinning in her head as she wondered what your text could be. You were worried about your following announcement and her response to it. Waiting for the other islanders to gather around you, you began reading the text out loud.

“Dear Matt, you are the guy of my dreams. I hope you will come out and get a little wet with me. Yours truly. Mona,” You announce to the watching islanders. A loud “OOOH” came out from everyone who wasn’t Paige and Jenna.

“Damn, Matt. Though I have to say if you’re the guy of her dreams, I’m a bit worried about this chick,” Mike jokes.

“Are you going to go?” Liz asks.

“I have to don’t I?” You say. Yes, you had to. You wanted to spend more time with Paige and Jenna today to sort things out, but the producers had to throw you another wrench in this machine that you felt was going to crush your bones.

Paige eyes you suspiciously like a dog she was going to leave alone with her roast chicken, and you try to shrug it off as if this date didn’t mean much to you. Your actual feelings, however, were different. The text combined with the quest you were given yesterday made you feel anxious and excited as you headed upstairs to get changed for the date.

So this was the Mona from the questline?

You suppose it wasn’t surprising that a new girl would come in this week. Why ever would she pick you to go on a date with her? Although Mike was just joking, there was a bit of truth in it. You were naturally cynical of any girl that would choose you over the other guys here who you’ve gotten to know and are, honestly, mostly a decent sort and much better relationship prospects than you.

You check the AMA to see if any other data points can help you, but nothing appeared.

Your mission was to grope this girl? That was the only thing they gave you. Though thinking about it, did you have to grope her?. Can you just fail the mission?

You check the Island Amour tab and see all the profiles of the people you met. A new one dissolved away the old black question-marked profile and showed a new girl.

You try to expand her profile for her stats, but it shows, “You have not met this person yet.”

Paige walks by you as you leave for the doors to go to the date.

“You look nice,” Paige says sincerely and noticeably eyes you head to toe and then shoots you a childish "HUMPH" look and stomps away.

A flashing red came out from your phone.

Paige Green has the status effect - Jealously

Due to Paige’s unique modifiers, Jealousy gives her +10 to love and -10 to affection. If Paige sees you talking or interacting with another girl during this effect timer, you will lose affection points.

Grimacing, you put your phone away and headed out. It wasn’t like you picked to be on this date. You were contractually obligated to be there. You decided. You would meet Mona and have a nice time but not finish that groping mission. What was the AMA thinking?
