How do things turn out?
You find a few suitable items and give her one next week
You had decided on an autowrench and a rivet grinder more suited to Selanian hands and put in an order for them. They came in a few days later, and you decided to be a little extra and actually wrap them. Your first few attempts reminded you why you're a maintenance tech and not a sculptor, but applying some actual math to it made it easy enough. You head to work that morning a little early, hopefully earlier than Gurwa, as she usually got there before you. Arriving and quickly scanning the area, you see you've succeeded in arriving before her! You go over to her locker and lean against it, deducing she should arrive in a few minutes at most.
Gurwa entered the maintenance head quarters reading something on her tablet, a bag slung over her shoulder, almost resting on top of those wide succulent hips of hers, her cuddly-looking taking it's place. You watched her waddle up to her locker you were standing in front of. She read her tablet and you watcher her thighs wobble and shake, you noticed that her thigh gap was quickly disappearing down her legs.
"Hey!" you yelp as you finally realized that Gurwa was about to run into you. Her rebreather let out some kind of noise you suspect was her version of a yelp in surprise.
"Je-ta' Tahl! Michael! Uh-- Mr. Zambac! Why are you--? You startled me!" Gurwa says as she almost drops her tablet.
"Sorry about that, I wanted to surprise you, but not this much." you hold up the two boxes.
"What do you-- Oh! Are those for me?" Her voice pitched up, obviously giddy
"They are! I thought I'd get you something since you got me that special set of oil rags. They've been very useful, you know." You beam as she puts away her tablet and takes the gifts. She quickly goes over to a work station and you follow.
"I've read it's customary to rip these open, but I've always hated breaking things unnecessarily." Gurwa explains as she gets out a blade and slowly cuts the paper along the seams. She did this to both before removing the paper. "An autowrench and a rivet grinder? But I.. oh! Oh, these are specially made! For my hands?" She quickly unpacked one and held it, giggling. Her voice raising in pitch, you could only smile back.
"I saw them, and just I knew they'd be great. It's been a real shame that the tools we have ain't suited to your needs." You place your hand on her shoulder opposite of you, pulling her into a side hug.
"You seem to becoming more aware of my needs lately. Suggesting foods I now love, recommending reading material, and now special tools? Mr. Zambac, you are so great." she looked up at you, and turned, brushing her hip against you. She tightly hugged you, you squeezed her back, relishing in how you could feel the rolls forming on her back and her belly pressing against you. Her shape wasn't what held your attention, though. The way she nuzzled her head against your chest held it.
This moment felt like it lasted forever
"And you don't have to call me Mr. Zambac when we're off the clock, Gurwa. Our shift hasn't started yet." You look down at her. She looked up at you, her grey eyes staring straight into yours, rapidly darting across your face.
"I know, Michael." She rested her head against your chest again. A short chime played over the intercom in the room, signifying the start of the work day. Gurwa hesitated, but let go of the hug first. "Mr. Zambac. Let's check that first ticket, shall we?"
You go over to the maintenance tracking machine as Gurwa puts her things away and adds her new tools to her toolbox. The only thing you could really do is tell the computer who was taking each ticket, then assign them according to priority once you knew what you were dealing with.
"Alright, what arbitrary maintenance do we need to start on today... Replace a filter in the epidemiology lab, Martin can handle that. Diagnose a faulty part in the nutrient scanner in Hydroponics Section 32, I'll let Oork do that. Airlock 4 on Ring 2 causing atmospheric leak-- god damn." You weren't even mad, just frustrated that this hadn't been a day one issue. You accepted the ticket yourself. "Gurwa! We need to go, we have a leaking airlock!" Gurwa nodded, grabbed her toolbox and quickly followed you to an emergency lift.
You both arrived at the area and hurried along the halls to the airlock, Gurwa lagging slightly behind. You cursed more eggheads as you had to reroute to another area to pick up exosuits first, since the area adjacent to the airlock was now also depressurized.
"I remembered that Candice told me it's a "Ms. Erin" that controls the ticket order. After this, I'm going to find her and I'm going to get her to give me access to the priority system, or let me make one." You fumed as you got a suit on and sealed the chest opening, and picking up a helmet and looked over at Gurwa. She was struggling to get the suit she had picked up over her thighs. You could hear her rebreather making small noises, you knew them as her angrily muttering to herself. You blushed, watching her shake and jiggle as she tugged on the too-small suit. "Uh, Gurwa, doesn't your suit provide the environment you need?"
"Yes, Mr. Zambac." she let go of the suit and stood up straight, "But, for how much they go on about comfort and style, it doesn't protect from the hazards of the vacuum of space." she said with a very angry undertone. She took off the suit and grabbed a larger one, which this one slid on much easier. It was very baggy on her upper body, however. She continued grumbling "This is so embarrassing."
You and Gurwa make quick work of the airlock. Replacing several parts and the whole of the exterior door and many, many, intricate parts of the interior door. Gurwa made sure to thank you every time she got to use her new tools. You two sat in the closest cafeteria, having worked through your usual lunch break to get it done as quickly as possible. The second your suit came off when the area repressurized, you had actually heard her stomach growl. You both ate in silence, tired."You're not eating?" You look over at Gurwa, who hadn't even removed her rebreather yet to eat some sushi you had suggested for her.
"I feel, that I may not need to eat at this time." Gurwa replied as her stomach growled again.
"Why is that?" You asked, setting down your BLT.
"I... " she fidgeted, "I had trouble with the suit. And I've had trouble with my own suit and uniform earlier this month." She sat very stiffly, staring at her food, "Gunna and I ate those berries, not even considering the long term effects. We've been constantly hungry for weeks now. I don't know how Gunna is getting through it, but it's hard getting through work without taking time to eat every hour." she held her head and rested her elbows on the table.
"Gurwa, you did that out of concern for Brianna, and, uh, you're still getting your work done admirably." You tactfully tried to comfort her.
"Thank you, Michael." She glanced over at you
"I don't think skipping a meal after all that work is going to do anything. Have you spoken to a medical officer yet?"
"It won't help, I think. And, the station doesn't have a Selanian doctor, I scheduled a holo-visit from the closest one, though."
"Good, and, why not try the sushi? You'll love it, I know it." you gently reach up and hold her hand.
"Okay, I'll try it." she smiled and picked up a piece, her rebreather drained out the water and she detached it. She popped the roll in her mouth, "Mmm!! This is amazing! I love it!" she quickly popped a few more in."
You smiled, at least she was enjoying herself.
