Chapter 22 by Stagger Stagger

Who do you and the Enchantress decide to move in with?

You decide to latch onto a merchant to go to a bigger city

After the walking husk that was Dennis gathers up all his - yours now - belongings, you order him to cover himself up in a cloak and follow after you.

Out of you, the former wizard, and the Enchantress, no one has much knowledge of the local rich folk or nobility. Accordingly, you decide to ask about in town, after ordering Dennis to wait with the luggage on the outskirts, with standing orders to defend himself.

However, moments after entering Morning Wood, the Enchantress speaks up in your head, having noticed a lavish-looking merchant wagon, with a middle aged man in expensive clothes standing nearby with a few guards.

Forget the locals, get a ride with that merchant. He'll take us somewhere that isn't so backwater...

It seems like a reasonable statement, so you agree. Fine, Dennis has the money on him though, should we go get him first?

You can almost see the Enchantress rolling her - currently non-existent - eyes as she replies. Money? The Enchantress does not pay to travel. He'll take us wherever we wish, and be grateful for the privilege.

You don't doubt that the Enchantress can beguile a simple merchant easily enough, but apparently she doesn't plan to.

I'll let you handle this. You need the practice.

What's your approach?
