Chapter 16 by Trom1806 Trom1806

What will you decide about this invitation?

You decide to ignore this invitation to the party.

You decide that such an unexpected invitation to a party of noble aristocrats is an alarming fact for you.

You think: “If I go there, it will be dangerous for me, because there will be a lot of armed guards there. What will happen if some aristocratic person mocks me (most likely, it was for the purpose of bullying that I was invited to this party), and I will respond to bullying in such a way that the human aristocrats will not like it? It is likely that the guards who guard this noble mansion will simply be ordered to capture me and throw me in prison. I do not need such problems. So I think I shouldn't attend this shitty party of arrogant asshole aristocrats!"

You go to one of the rooms, which is located in the building where your trading caravan stopped. This room is very small in area. This room is a toilet. And you don't go there to pee at all. Your need is much more significant. When satisfying this natural need of yours, you use for hygienic purposes an invitation to a noble party, written on high-quality and expensive paper, as well as the envelope in which the invitation to this noble party was.

Then you leave this small room with a feeling of physiological relief and with the awareness of the correctness of your actions.

You think with satisfaction: “Now this invitation is where it belongs. In the same place I wish all aristocrats to be! Ha! Ha!”

You return to your duties of guarding the caravan's property and training the new guards. During the training of the newly hired caravan guards, you are unpleasantly surprised by the low level of combat skills of these guards. This is probably explained by the fact that until recently some of these guards were ordinary peasants living in provincial small villages. However, you still try to teach these bumbling idiots at least the basics of fighting with a shield and blunt weapons.

You thought that you had one more day before your caravan continued on its way north. Therefore, you try to use this time as efficiently as possible. You order some of the guards to continue training. You send the rest of the guards on patrols around the perimeter of the building in which your caravan is located.

You went to the kitchen and you ate a little. Then, you went to check how the guards subordinate to you carried out your orders.

Thus, for more than half of the day you were busy with ordinary routine activities.

Around 16:00, you met merchant Jodaz near one of the carts in your caravan. He was probably checking the integrity of the locks on the chests.

Jodaz asked you: "Ulkin, you didn't go to the noble party? Why?"

You replied: "I decided not to go there. Tomorrow our caravan leaves further on the way north. At the party I would have to drink a lot of alcoholic beverages. Because of this, I would have a hangover tomorrow. It would prevent me from effectively performing my official duties as the guard of this caravan"

Jodaz says, grunting: “Ha! You're a boring guy, Ulkin! Okay! If you decide not to go to the aristocrats' party, then so be it. But I want you to see at least some of the sights of this large city. The city of Teinlund is one of the largest cities in the north of the Sacred Kingdom of Orlania! Come with me! I want to go to the quarter in which there are trading shops where all sorts of rarities are sold. And you will join me on this walk. During this walk you will see how many interesting and amazing things there are on the streets of this big city. So, do you agree?"

How will you respond to merchant Jodaz's offer?
