What's next?
You decide not to tell her, Randall preferring she didn't know.
"Well, of course I want to tell her," you started to say. "I don't like keeping secrets from her, especially something this big."
Randall interrupted in a soft voice. "Uh, Tim, I...I don't want her to know, at least not yet."
"Huh?" you asked. "Why not? Allison could help ... you know, teach you woman stuff."
Randall shuddered. "Tim, I know you like her alot, and Allison is pretty cool. But I can't deal with that right now. You know how she is - she might be all sympathetic and try to help, but she couldn't resist rubbing my face in this."
You hated to admit it but Randall did have a point. Allison and he were perhaps too much alike in some ways - both 'A-type' personalities, extroverted and a little bossy, with very 'in-your-face' senses of humor. They often pranked each other, unfortunately catching you in the middle. Allison would feel bad for Randall but she would probably tease him mercilessly. You told youself that kind of humor was how she expressed her affection - but it wouldn't be helpful under these circumstances.
"Okay..." you said slowly. "I get it. But it will make things more complicated for me. I hate having to lie to her."
"Thanks, dude," he said appreciatively. "I mean it - you're a great friend. I can't imagine ANYONE else I'd rather have with me in this mess."
Your mom spoke up. "You're not alone, dear. You have us as well. And I know it might feel a little awkward, but I would be happy to - how did Tim put it? - to 'teach you woman stuff'.
Randall grimaced. "Guess that's part of the package now," he said, looking down at his new body. "Thanks Mrs. C. I can't say I'm thrilled with the idea, but I supose I've got a lot to learn."
She smiled and comfortingly patted his shoulder. "We'll start tomorrow, dear. Let's get you out of here first."
