The Ultimate Transplant
PLEASE ADD CHAPTERS! A close friend or family member is horribly injured in an accident. As they lay dying in the emergency room, another patient dies of a brain aneurysm. Both of them are organ donors, so a surgeon decides it's the perfect opportunity for him to try an experimental surgery. He transplants the victim's higher brain (the cerebellum) to the donor's body in an attempt to 'save' a life. Amazingly it works. But the surgery was not approved so the hospital convinces the families to keep quiet, arguing that revealing this operation to the public would bring never-ending media attention to all involved. That means that the patient will have to publicly assume the identity of the donor. What will this mean to your friends and family? Who else will you tell? Although you will spend a lot of time and effort giving support, how will all this alter your relationship to the patient? And how will he or she adapt to a complete change of body and identity? Many transformation stories focus on the change or victim, so I thought it would be interesting to instead have the POV be someone who sees the change from the outside. Writers feel free to explore a change in age, gender, class or ethnicity - and the repercussions that change would have on the main character (and others). In recent days, Allison Dairy Enterprises, a company formerly famed for delivering customers the best possible dairy products, from yogurt, milk, cheeses, dips, creams and butter has had a crazy downward tumble in terms of stock valuation to diminishing investor opinion on the brand. Quality control is nearly absent, employees are far too bitter to come to work regularly, and when they do, their work is subpar. Customers are going to other brands, and the board is concerned what all this means for the company moving forward. A grand restructuring is needed. The company's marketing division came up with many different solutions on paper, but only had enough capital to go with one, they decided they would let YOU decide.
