Chapter 9 by Guforess Guforess

What's next?

You catch 1 of the runaway pokemon

"Ah, but that won't do for an explanation, will it? I do apologize. Let me be more thorough." Professor Laventon continued on as you still had lingering thoughts about the primitive-looking pokeballs, "Now, I've mentioned already that pokemon are strange, marvelous creatures. What's so strange about them, you ask? Well, each and every pokemon is able to shrink itself down to minuscule size!"

You had already known that, being covered under pokemon biology 101 in your lessons before you could get your trainer's licence. You remembered staring in annoyance as some of the guys made a joke comparing pokemon to dicks, and you stifling a laugh as one of the female students rebutted with the fact they couldn't be too similar, as pokemon could get bigger. The teacher had to yell over the arguing that followed. Despite that, it was a good example of how different pokemon were from humans.

"And that's where pokeballs come in!" The professor continued his lesson, "Pokeballs are a recent invention, you see. Throw one of them at a pokemon, and..."

The words "recent invention" had gotten you thinking, making you zone out a bit at the shock of how casually he said that. Even the most backwater of regions knew about pokeballs, and how they were invented...

You start to get lost in thought again, reflecting on Arceus' words. You landed in a strange place, met a professor that dressed weird, and now he's saying that pokeballs were only recently invented. This was becoming a bit too much for you to wrap your mind around. You knew Arceus was all-powerful...

But did it manage to actually send you back in time?

The mere thought of that sounded like a science fiction film, yet you need to consider this possibility to figure out why exactly you were sent here to find all the pokemon. There has to be a more important reason for this...

"Why, the pokemon will shrink down and fit inside the ball, comfy as can be. And with that, you've caught a pokemon!" Professor Laventon droned on, his words being background noise as he doesn't notice your deep contemplation.

"I know we've just met, but I'm afraid I have no one else to turn to. No one that's here right now, anyway..." The professor asked for your help, bringing your attention back as you could hear him mutter the last part under his breath. There's someone else with the professor? You were intrigued as to how the other inhabitants of this land would act. "I'd be awfully grateful if you could catch my three runaways!", He made his request, making you push the swirling questions within your head to the side. Looks like you have to do some pokemon catching.

"Now, the proper technique is to take aim at the pokemon, then let the ball fly - it's quite simple! Though far be it from me to say so, I suppose, given my own dire lack of skill in this area." The professor gave some instructions, and with that, you were off.

First, you sought out Cyndaquil. Running towards the nearby rocky field, you see the fire pokemon lolling lazily in the grass. As it notices you, it's dick hanging out, you threw your pokeball at it the way you usually did, with a trickshot. Your breasts were so big that it blocked any larger movements you made, so you had to settle for tossing it upwards from beneath, curving towards your desired target. The handcrafted pokeball smacked it straight on the head after a beautiful arc, opening and enveloping Cyndiquil in a bright blue light. The light retracted into the ball, which steamed like an old-timey train as it bounced and shook, a far cry from the smooth rocking and swaying seen in a modern pokeball. Guess they had to iron out the kinks later, you thought to yourself as the bouncing stopped, a tiny firecracker shooting out to dissipate in yellow sparks. A way more flashy method than the quiet click of a successful catch.

"Oh wonderful, you've caught a pokemon! It seems you've quite the knack for this pokemon-catching business, Akari! Jolly useful skill to have around here." The professor cheered you on from the sidelines. Back where you were from, catching pokemon was as normal an activity as can be, so seeing him react this way caught you a bit off guard. If this was considered great skill, what were the others like with pokeballs?

"Only two of my darling runaways left now. Still, this is most unusual. You don't seem fearful of pokemon in the slightest..." He remarked.

Strange, were pokemon to be feared? I've never met anyone who viewed pokemon this way, no matter how much trouble they might cause sometimes... Only people in the past saw pokemon as scary beasts... You think to yourself, fearing that the theory you tried to dismiss was starting to get more true as you looked down at the pokeball in your hand containing Cyndaquil.

Shaking your thoughts aside, you head towards the other 2 pokemon.

1 down, 2 to go
