You aren't entirely sure at first

You hurry to your next class. The room is much less impressive than the other ones you'd been to. Walking to the front you note that Anastasia, Vatarie and Asune aren't here yet.

You put Anastasia's lateness down to her going to talk with Edin, since as you look behind you, he can't see him here either. You keep waiting as the room fills up. Then something unexpected happens. A guy sits next to you. You vaguely recognise him from when you and Edin had gone to the middle class baths.

"Hi." You say to him. He looks over at you but doesn't respond. His aura suggests he is unhappy with you but you don't know what you'd done for that to have happened.

You look back to try and find Edin. Hoping him not sitting next to you was an indicator of nothing more than him having taken a liking to his unusual seat behind. He wasn't there. And as you looked it was hard to not notice how everyone here was a guy.

More than a little confused you look at your book hoping there would be some sort clue in it. It is blank. You look at the guy sitting next to you but he unhappy aura dissuaded you from asking him. Waiting for a teacher to show up just left you more and more confused. There were no women here, same as when you had been divided for magical training.

"Welcome students." The voice pulled your eyes to the back of the room as a stout man walked to the front of the classroom. "We will begin class by going over the basics. What are the three principals of household maintenance?"

That question threw you off a little.

"Cleanliness, orderliness and functionality." The guy next to you answered.

You had a sudden idea of what this class was.

"Excellent, I am sure everyone will learn from you example." The teacher walked to the board and wrote those three things down. "Cleanliness. Orderliness. Functionality. When you are the caretaker of an estate these three things are what you need to remember." The words appeareded in you book confirming your idea.

This was home ecc. You were in a home ecc class being taught how to maintain your future wife's estate. A few conflicting feelings came at you after that realisation. Confusion at why such a class would exist at the Royal Academy, annoyance at you having to attend. Embarrassment that a yesterday you would have considered this to some degree needed information since you thought you were average and thus would probably need to know this. Curiosity at why Edin wasn't present. Lastly more than a little insulted because you were above average.

That last one hit differently. While the teacher kept talking you marveled at how quickly your ego had jumped from contentness at averageness to balking at not being treated as better.

"Young master." The teacher said. He was standing in front of you. "An answer young master."

"What?" You asked then add, "Sorry could you repeat the question?"

The teacher shock his head and looked at the guy next to you. "Attention to detail." He said in apparent answer.

"Very good, I hope the rest of the class makes note." He walked back to the board and started talking again but you weren't paying attention.

You were preoccupied by feeling embarrassed at being called out and being bemused at the fact you were embarrassed. Not only is your consciousness double your age in this world, and thus should really be beyond caring about being called out, but given your apparent might you were kinda above this anyway. But here you sit feeling embarrassed.

The novelty wore off pretty quickly and you wondered what would happen if you just walked out. You also wondered if Anastasia would be angry at you for walking out. You were expected to do well in all your classes after all. Begrudgingly you start writing in your book. You'd never done any sort of study on this area and while the topic was boring it wasn't anything you didn't largely know or know of from your previously life where you lived on your own for a few years and learned some of this stuff out of necessity.

At the end you really hoped you weren't going to have attend this class for the whole of the academy. If you were you were going to be very grouchy. The fact that Edin didn't attend but you remember see the class on his schedule suggests there might be a way out of it, though it could be down what you'd done to him this morning, or the teacher from last class asking to speak to him.

The smugness from the guy who was sitting next you got obnoxious the moment you saw it and didn't feel compelled to get to know him. You left the classroom quickly. You had a date with two sisters you had been tricked into promising to attend. Maybe ditching them two days in a row wouldn't be so bad.
