Chapter 19 by Trom1806 Trom1806

You quietly and intently examine this man in a rich outfit.

You are watching his actions.

You see that this man in a rich outfit behaves clearly insolently and arrogantly. He yells at the tavern owner: "Hurry, bring me the best food and drink! You miserable Morthem serf! If you don't please me, you obviously won't do well! Ha! Ha! "Ha! Ha! Yes, I'm really Leinel of the noble aristocratic family of the de Brilens! We came from Orlania together with the current king of Morthem, Ethelrent the First! Now we help His Majesty King Ethelrent the First and his mother, the noble and beautiful Queen Regent Valenrisa the Brilliant, in to make this uncivilized forest hole called "Mortham" into something more befitting!"

You see the owner of the tavern, obviously frightened, fussing and bringing a lot of food and drink to this Leinel de Brilin.

You recall that for many centuries Morthem was an unstable alliance of several local earls, who either united against a common threat or were at enmity with each other.

This unstable confederal association of feudal rulers was only formally headed by an elected king (usually the title of king was elective - the most influential local earls elected from among themselves one earl, who became king for life, but could not pass on the title of king to his children).

For a three of centuries, political life in these lands was structured this way.

But recently this state of affairs has changed.

However, about 3 years ago, Morthem was occupied by the troops of the stronger Orlania. The Orlanians bribed some of the local earls, **** some to submit by diplomatic means, suppressed some by military **** and took away the lands of the resisting earls. About 1 year ago, the Orlanians decided, instead of completely annexing Morthem to Orlania, to establish a puppet regime of government dependent on Orlania in Morthem. Therefore, the young second son of the king of Orlania, Ethelrent, was crowned as king of Morthem (now he is 12 years old, his mother, Queen Regent Valenrisa, actually rules for him). Formally, it is considered that the kingdom of Morthem is independent. However, in fact - in the capital of Morthem and in most of its settlements, the noble aristocrats who came from Orlania together with the current king of Morthem now play a predominant role in the management. These Orlanian aristocrats were given a lot of land confiscated from disloyal local earls of Morthem origin.

You understand that this impudent richly dressed aristocrat Leinel de Brilen, apparently refers to such orlanian aristocrats who came from Orlania after the occupation of Morthem by Orlanian troops and the establishment of the puppet rule of King Ethelrent.

Leinel de Brilen eats and drinks what the tavern owner brings him. However, in between eating and drinking, Leinel de Brilen continues to mock and taunt the tavern owner, telling the tavern owner: "So be it for your servile obligingness, I will not whip you until you are tavern keeper! Ha! Ha! But, to be honest, your tavern just a terrible ramshackle ruin - in Orlania they would be ashamed to even set up a pigsty in a building like yours! Ha! Ha! It's good that I won't have to stay long in your dirty tavern, since I urgently need to go along the road to the west to take possession of Neuvorg castle given to me by our adored King Ethelrent!"

You know you've heard enough.
