Chapter 25 by Trom1806 Trom1806

What will Traeliorn tell you?

You are waiting for the actions of the elf Traeliorn. You hope that he will be able to reveal the properties of your ring.

The elf examines this ring with curiosity.

You are also looking at this beautiful ring. You see the silvery sheen of metal, which is covered with incomprehensible patterns. You can see the light blue hue of the mineral that is inlaid into this ring.

The elf Traeliorn then carefully takes this ring and places it on a small table that stands in the center of his tent. The elf makes gestures with his fingers and pronounces the words of a spell unknown to you.

You see surprise appear in the elf’s gaze.

The elf steps aside. He starts looking for something in his bags. After 5 minutes he finds what he wanted. This thing looks like a small rod about 40 centimeters long. This rod is made of a type of wood unknown to you, the wood of which has a greenish tint. You see that the wooden top of this rod looks like a figure that depicts some kind of flower.

The elf says the words of the spell again and he makes gestures again. This time, the elf uses this strange rod when gesturing.

You see mysterious light rays emanating from the top of the rod in the direction of your ring, which lies on the table.

After a moment, the rays disappear. The elf takes your ring and places it in his palm. He continues to stare at this ring.

You see annoyance and curiosity in his gaze.

You lose patience and you ask him: "Why are you silent? What did you find out, Traeliorn?"

The elf replies: “I hate to admit the weakness of my magical knowledge and skills. But I have to admit that I was not able to fully identify the properties of this magic ring. I was able to identify only a small part of the spell that was cast on this item. All I can say with certainty is that this item contains a variety of charms and spells that are interconnected and complement each other. I would like to ask you: did you put this ring on your finger, Ulkin?"

You say, "No. I kept that ring in my bag."

The elf considers your answer. He continues to look at the ring with a searching gaze.

Suddenly he makes a quick movement. The elf puts the ring on his finger. You don’t have time to say anything out of surprise. You see how the ring comes into contact with the elf's finger.

A second later something strange happens. You see that the ring disappears. You don't see this ring on the elf's finger. Although the elf did not take off the ring and did not make any movements at all.

You say in an astonished voice, “What the hell?! The ring is gone!”

Traeliorn looks at you with a surprised look and says to you: “What nonsense are you talking about, Ulkin? This ring is now on my finger. Here it is! I see it! Now I will take it off.”

The elf makes a movement as if he wants to remove some kind of ring invisible to you from his finger.

However, as soon as this movement is completed, you see that the elf is holding in his hand the very ring that the aristocratic women of the city of Teinlund gave you.

You don't know what to say.

Elf Traeliorn tells you: “So, we have experimentally identified one of the many types of enchantments that are placed on this ring. This is an illusion enchantment. Moreover, it is important to note that the enchantment acts on the item itself, and not on the bearer of this item. As soon as someone... then he puts this ring on his finger, this ring becomes invisible to all other persons except the wearer. I don’t know what the point is in this.”

You also cannot come up with any logical explanation for the presence of these charms on your ring.

Elf Traeliorn says: "I love solving riddles. I'm interested in finding out all the properties of this magic ring. Therefore, I want to offer you an exchange, Ulkin."

Having said these words, the elf takes out some kind of amulet from his bag. You see that this amulet is a small yellowish metal disk (about 4 centimeters in diameter), which is covered with ligature of strange patterns.

Elf Traeliorn says: "This is an amulet that was found in the ruins of some ancient elven fortress on the islands south of the Kingdom of Orlania. I carried out a magical identification procedure and I found out that this amulet slightly increases the reaction speed of the wearer in battle. A rush of adrenaline during battle triggers the process of magical adaptation of the amulet to the characteristics of the body of the bearer of the amulet. As a result: during battle, the bearer of the amulet will move and act faster than usual. Of course, the power of this amulet is not very high, but this amulet is a useful item for any warrior. So, do you agree to exchange your ring for my amulet?"

What will you answer? Do you want to exchange your ring for this elf's amulet?
