Yo Sato

I awaken frightened, all I see is darkness and I feel somebody touching my leg. I'm nearly hyperventilating as I throw a punch toward whoever is next to me, only to have it stop short because of a chain around my wrist. I try to throw one with my other hand before I realize I can't feel it, it's not there! Damn I'll have to cut my wrist with the chain and use my blood to break my restraints. All at once the covering on my eyes is removed and the light blinds me for a moment before a beautiful face comes into view. She seems to be speaking to me but I can't hear her at first, it's like she is far away or something.

I shake my head as I remember where I am, my hearing slowly returns as I stop struggling against my chains and relax a little into the seat. I finally hear her words fully now.

"Sato please it's ok we're on an airship, my name is Ty Lee remember? I'm a friend it's ok you are safe... I promise it's ok."

I start to slow my breathing a little before I speak "Oh yea I.. I know... sorry about that... I'm fine.. Sleep just doesn't agree with me... Sometimes..."

She looks overly concerned "I'm so sorry I kept the blindfold on you... I thought it would help you sleep, I should have known better, I apologize."

I hate that look in her eyes "I'm fine, got it? It was just a bad dream... It's really nothing."

She grabs my shaking hand with both of her soft calm hands "How often do you wake up this way Sato?"

Is this what I can except from here on out? Some little sensitive girl trying to read into every little thing I do? I wake up like this everyday, what does it matter? Crying about it won't help anyone, it's best to just move on. My left nub is throbbing really bad but I don't move to rub it, I can't afford to show anymore weakness than I already have. She looks so sad as I pull my hand away from her. Now that I can see I notice the seat next to me is open and I take this chance to move over. I stare out the window as she speaks.

"Sato you don't always need to pull away... It's safe to be open up with me, I would never betray your trust or think less of you... But if you really need space I completely understand..."

I scoff as I avoid her gaze. I'm just sick of being treated like some child or some kind of sick puppy. I push into my seat and look out the window, about ten minutes of silence pass before I start to feel the ship shake.

"Oh Sato we're here, look!" She's already back to her bubbly self as she points out the window.

The engines cut out as we begin our decent through the clouds. I see a beautiful green island all by its self in a sparkling blue ocean come into view. It can't be more than two miles across, and its covered in jungle foliage. It's almost shaped like an egg and has jagged rocks on one end and a beautiful white sandy beach on the other. There's a large mountain in the center with clouds surrounding the peak, it's most likely the volcano that created this place.

I wonder if I escaped could I hide on the mountain or in a cave on the rocky side long enough for my bending to strengthen? It could be difficult given she has the home field advantage and probably knows this island inside and out, but who knows maybe she is new to this place too. If she doesn't have much staff or support it might be a plausible plan. I laugh on the inside, this is why you blindfold people coming into a new prison, this girl is seriously too naive.

As we get closer down I can see a beautiful house on stilts at the edge of the beach. The front half is on the ground while the back half is on the stilts. It's quite large and extravagant, the architect is definitely old school fire nation from what I can tell. The massive columns have dragons carved into them, and the roof has the traditional clay slates all painted reds and golds.

"It was built as a summer home for firelord Sozin, though I doubt he ever used it. After over 50 years of being abandon someone restored what was left and tried to turn it into a high class resort and spa, but after a few years the volcano started smoking and that was the end of that. It changed hands through the years until eventually the land was turned over to the fire nation government. Zuko donated the whole place to my program, isn't that so kind!?!"

I raise an eyebrow, oh yea sure the fire lords have been such benevolent rulers. I remain silent and do my best to etch everything I'm seeing into my mind. The main house is large, and I can see some smaller buildings further back at the tree line, I wonder what they are?

"I put a decent chunk of my funding to restore and remodel it myself, I even added a few secret rooms and surprises" she grins ear to ear obviously proud of herself.

*Clang!*

The ship lands on the metal platform to the right of the main building. I see someone waiting on the landing pad, she is a short dark skinned girl wearing all white. The crop top she is wearing shows her absurdly defined six pack, her dark skin gleams in the bright sunlight as she waits at the end of the lowering stairs. She stands motionless and ridged at attention.

"Who's the ebony statue?" I ask while eyeing her up and down.

"Oh that's Avni!... She's been my student for a few years and volunteered to help me with all of this, she's special in so many ways... But she can be a little... Intense... I bet she is just gonna love you!"

Ty Lee undoes my chains to my great relief and leaves them on the ship. As walk down the steps of the ship I can't help but appreciate this girls beautiful blue eyes, they almost seem electric next to her dark skin. She only stands at about 5'6 but her stoney demeanor and cut body tell me she means business. As I approach her eyes scan me up and down, her eyes get wide as I assume she recognizes me.

"Welcome back ma'am" she gives a bow as does Ty Lee.

God I hate that damn name, I have a few on the street but that one is the most popular unfortunately. I have to say though, it is a relief to finally hear someone speak some sense. She understands how dangerous this whole idea is, and obviously doesn't want me here. I have to say though something in her eyes tells me her hatred is personal, I do my best to think back. I definitely don't recognize her, she is quite distinctive I would remember that face, how have I wronged this girl?

"Oh nonsense he is a very sweet young man... I actually think you of all people are gonna like him alot!... He reminds me of you when we first met" she smiles as Avni clenches her jaw.

"May I ma'am?" She nods her head toward me.

"Oh fine if it will make you feel better, but be gentle like I showed you ok?" She nods as she approaches me.

"Yes ma'am (she turns to me now) I'm going to conduct a search of your person, please remain still and quiet until I am finished" Jeez I'm used to this kind of thing by now but it does get old.

"Fine fine just hurry little girl I don't have all day" I see her literally wince when I say little girl, ah so that gets to you huh?

"Again, remain quite" she says with a little bit of rasp in her voice.

I put my arms out and she begins her search. First she checks my hair, ears, and mouth. I cooperate with her just wanting to get this over with. It's then I notice Ty Lee is studying my face, she looks slightly perplexed by something. I immediately feel uncomfortable in her gaze. I hate not knowing what she is attempting to observe or what her conclusion will be. She smiles as I scowl at her.

"Yes let's go you two! Avni lead the way honey!" Her excitement is grossly genuine.

Avni just seems happy to have a task and change the subject. As she begins walking infront of us I can't help but notice how controlled her steps are, maybe former military? That would definitely make sense with the way she speaks and her prior knowledge of me.

As we ascend the steps I find myself noticing how chiseled her ass is, from what I can see it's solid. I respect someone who has enough discipline to carve their body like this, I'm gonna have to keep an eye on this one, she could be dangerous.

We get to the top and I see a beautiful wood balcony over looking the ocean, it has a massive table and chairs along with what I assume are covered grills and various things. There are long wooden chairs to the side for sunbathing and little umbrellas above small tables next to that. All of the banisters have the same inlayed carvings and different designs in them. The whole side of the building facing out toward the ocean is windows, all the way up to the second story in fact.

Avni leads us inside to what looks like some kind of common area. It has massive white wrap around couches with a small table in the center. The floors are a beautiful darkly colored hard wood, I can't help but appreciate how expensive this all must be. I see some mats on the ground in a open area to the left, huh they must do some kind of training there. I love how cold the air feels in here, the sweltering heat gets old.

Ty Lee flops onto one of the couches "Ah you should have told me the couches finally arrived!" She rolls her sweaty body all over the couch like she is trying to feel every part of it. I take a deep labored breath, this girls constant positivity is exhausting.

"Would you like me to escort him to your courters ma'am?"

"Oh no I've got it girl, take a break, oh and practice those yoga poses you have been struggling with missy!"

She bows her head before she leaves she seems to remember something "Oh ma'am one more thing" she leans in and begins whispering in Ty Lee's ear.

With that she is off, as she passes by me she gives the dirtiest look my way, what the hell is her deal? She enters a door at the back right end of the room, it slams behind her.

Ty Lee pops up and leans on the back of the couch as she looks at me "Sato she's not a guard and this isn't a prison... She is my student and a good friend, I think she could be your friend as well... Could you please try to get along with her?"

"Fine whatever you say Ty Lee, but if she isn't a guard you might want to tell her that. My friends don't make a habit of feeling me up."

She giggles "Maybe you should make better friends then Sato" she gives me a wink.

I attempt to retort, but the words catch in my mouth. She giggles more as she can clearly see I have no response to that absurd comment. She stands up and gives a little stretch.

"Alright Sato I want to get your chi restriction therapy out of the way, I'll show you to the washroom and let you get cleaned up, then we'll head to the safe room and get this ball rolling!" I hesitate, she can't be serious right?

"Your going to let me bathe with water... Before my restriction therapy?" I eye her unsure of what her angle is.

"Yes Sato... Trust has to start somewhere right?... Now follow me and let's get you a towel and some clothes"

I follow behind her tight nimble body as we go through the door on the left side of the room. It leads to a long hallway with many doors on each side. She walks to the second door on the right and opens it, it's filled with all kinds of linens and things. She grabs a towel, some white cloth pants, a white Tshirt, and some kind of bathroom kit with different soaps in it.

"Ok now just take this down the hallway, the washroom is the first door on the right, I'll be waiting back in the rec room. Feel free to make this a LONG shower if you need to Sato."

I raise my eyebrow, what the hell does that mean? She hands me all of the stuff and without a word is skipping down the hall back the way we came. Is this some kind of test? Does she really trust me? God I don't know why but she is so damn hard to read.

I walk around the corner and see a large sliding door to my right. Huh this must have originally been a more traditional door way with paper and wood. As I slide it open my blood runs cold...
