Jade did indeed come alone to the meeting place. She was confused as to why no one else was there to audition.

Mason hit her with the ray on it's first setting.

"Are you here for the audition?" Jade asked Mason.

Mason shook his head. "No, I'm the director. I want you to go up on stage and act the way I tell you to act to see if you're the right fit for this part. As the director, nothing I say or even do is wrong. Okay?"

Jadd nodded. "Makes sense."

She went onstage and Mason gave her her first instructions.
