Chapter 35 by razorswift razorswift

Anything interesting happening in the bus?

Yes and No

As John got on the bus, he could see that there were, as usual, only a few free seats. Thankfully, one was two rows behind the pair of bullies, namely Vanessa and Frank. In his opinion, both of them didn't get to feel enough of his **** yet, but he would take his time with that so that it didn't get stale.

So he took the seat behind them, took out his phone, and tried to chat with Brunhilde.

J: Soo, what do you work as anyway that you have to get up that early? Morning, by the way.

B: Mornin'. Well, officially I work at my mom's vet clinic/pet store. Inofficially, we are the little man's Order when they don't want to be bothered with your problems. We don't get paid well, but we survive. And the animals make a good buck.

J: The Order? What's that?

B: Wait, you don't know the Order? The Order of the Golden Rose? Now you've gotta be bullshitting me... You're even going to the same school as the Heiress of the Order?

J: The heiress? Are you serious?

B: Yeah, Moira Brighton, just had to deal with her yesterday... Ah shit, I'm telling too much again...So yeah, but I guess it makes sense that you have no idea since you had no one to properly introduce you to the Abyss... But anyway, the Order is your basic organization for peacekeeping if you either can pay their price or pledge allegiance to them. If you can't or won't do that, you're already on their watchlist, but you still might have your problem. That's where we Valkyries mostly come in. Either we're called by the Order to give the final rites to someone dying or we get their rejected pleas through the talk of the town. I'm pretty sure they know we take those, but they either care too little about it or they approve of it. So that's the basic gist of the Order.

Wait, Moira Brighton was in that Order? Was that why he couldn't see her level? Would that mean that Kim Moon was similarly a person of the Abyss?

J: Huh, okay, good to know... So you had to deal with them yesterday? Is that the reason why you wanted to come over yesterday?

B: Not the dealing with the Order, but why we had to deal with them. I'd rather not talk about it...

If the usually so talkative Brunhilde didn't want to talk about that, that would mean something...

J: Okay no talking about what happened there then. Gonna talk to you in a moment again, gotta get off the bus and get to school.

Just as he sent that message, the bus arrived at the school. All of the students slowly filed out of the bus without much motivation. John was still kinda excited to see what the new day held for him seeing as what the last day brought. Sadly, his first period of the day had no promises of anything interesting happening.

As the students filed into the room, taking their usual seats, there was some murmuring among the students coming into the room. As John tried to listen closely, he only heard pieces of conversations, but one of the pieces he heard was "new students".

'Huh, that's some convenient timing, considering what had happened yesterday. Do these new students have something to do with that?' thought John just as the bell rung. Right on time, Mr. Oliviera entered the classroom, with him two students John had never seen, a girl and a boy. The boy was about as tall as John was, had black hair, blue eyes, he had a healthy tan, and was a bit on the chubby side. The most remarkable thing about him would've probably been his thousand volt smile; it just felt infectious. All in all, he looked like someone who could be friends with most people.

The girl, on the other hand, did not look remotely as happy as the boy did, she looked rather uncomfortable in fact. She had big rings under her eyes as if she hadn't slept properly for days, and her whole posture was just screaming awkwardness. She had long blonde hair that she wore openly behind her head and green eyes. She was also pretty small and thin, looking like she barely weighed more than a 100 pounds. In summary, she looked like she was pretty sick, or at least used to be and only recently got better.

At that point, John's curiosity got the better of him and he cast Observe.

James Calaway
Student Lv.3
Relationship: +32

Astrid Gjoskenholm
????? Lv. 27
<???????>
Relationship: -52

LEVEL 27?!? What the hell? No other information? And that last name... did she belong to Brunhilde's family? Now that he thought about it, she did look a lot like Brun but a bit younger. She seemed to notice his look, however, as she shifted uncomfortably from one leg to the other. She even looked slightly panicked. Did she know he just used Observe on her? Was that why his score was already in the negative with her?

The class was talking to itself about the newcomers until Mr. Oliviera cut the conversations short as he loudly began to talk, "Good morning class, as you probably have noticed, we have some new students here with us, please welcome James Calaway and Elena Smith. James is here due to a cultural exchange program we have with a school in Britain and Elena had health complications which restricted her from participating in the school life the last couple of months. Hopefully, you will all treat them with the respect they deserve. Now you two, pick your seats, we have two vacant ones next to Mr. Newman," and pointed at the seats next to John. John was used to it that no one wanted to sit next to him seeing as how he was 'the weird guy', but this time John wasn't so sure if he wanted to sit next to her. Her presence spelled bad fortune. While the two were respectively taking their seats left and right to John, he sent a quick message to Brun:

J: Say, do you have a younger sister?

He didn't expect an answer any time soon, yet not even half a minute later, he already had a reply

B: You can't be serious... Is she actually in your class? Can't I keep any secrets from you? How can you be so unknowing about the Abyss and yet have so much information about my family this quick? This is bullshit!

J: I'm going to take that as a 'yes', and yes she's in my business class.

B: Okay, this might not be so bad actually... Listen, she had a bad couple of years, really bad. Not my place to tell you about it. Maybe try to become friends with her? She could use someone to talk to her outside of the family... Just don't be too pushy with her and maybe keep your perversion in check?

J: Hey, you said yourself that you're a bigger pervert than I am, so you have no reason to talk to me like that... But okay I'll try to be nice to her. Maybe that will give me some plus points with you? ;) Anything I should avoid talking about?

B: Yeah, don't ask her about her 'sickness'. Other than that you should be fine.

So, how should he approach this?

So? Should he talk to her?
