John decided to take a page out of the book of the new guy, put on his most dazzling smile (which with a total of 25 Charisma wasn't even that bad) and decided to start a conversation with her, trying to break the ice. "Hey, welcome to Ashcroft, I'm John, nice to meet you."

She almost seemed startled by him as she meekly answered, "H-Hey... I-I'm As-Elena, nice to meet you too..." Hm, it seemed like she wasn't really used to talking to people in her 'alias', so John took that as an opportunity to properly break the ice. He quickly scribbled this on a note and handed it to her:

Don't worry about your name, I'll keep your secret ;)
I know your sister, so you can trust me.

While she read that piece of paper, her eyes started to grow in panic until she read the line about her sister at which she visibly relaxed. She then scribbled something on the back of the note and handed it back to John.

Sorry, I am a bit nervous about this whole thing... But you know my sis? Then you can't be that bad. Your spell really startled me, I thought that my cover was already blown... no one is supposed to know who I really am... how did you find out? Was it your spell?

Huh, so she would talk a lot more in text than in voice...

By now Mr. Oliviera had started the lesson, talking about the pros and cons of an open market contrary to a state-controlled market. It wasn't really anything John found too interesting, so he kept his conversation with Elena aka. Astrid going, taking out another piece of paper:

Yeah I know your sister, not that long but we get along and hang out, she didn't tell me she had a sister though...
And the spell I used was an observation spell that gets me basic information about a person, like their overall power, sometimes a title and how they see me. Here, let me use it again.

At that point, John used Observe again to see if his relationship with her had changed. And indeed, by now it was at +29. That was a lot more positive than the last one.

Okay, that feels really weird, like something's trying to read my soul. Please don't do that anymore, that makes me really uncomfortable...
But yeah, I guess it makes sense that Brun didn't tell you about me. We haven't seen each other for years now, so don't think bad of her just because she didn't tell you about me...

That was cute, that she was concerned what he thought about Brunhilde.

Don't worry, I don't put it against her that she didn't tell me about you. Seeing as how she seemingly can't really keep a secret, it had to be something serious so that she didn't talk about you... Bad breakup of your parents?

While reading that message her look went pretty empty, as if she lost herself in some memory. John then slightly nudged her with his foot to get her back to the real world and wrote another message:

Hey, if you don't want to talk about it then I won't talk about it, I was just curious.

Her face told him how much that relieved her.

Thanks, it's not something I want to think about right now...

From his left side, John could hear a chuckle and looking into the direction, he could see how James was trying to keep himself from laughing. "What's so funny?" asked John in a curious tone. He wasn't really sure if he should (or even could) be annoyed by his laughter.

"You two, man. You know each other 5 minutes now, and you're already writing little letters like you're a school couple. It just looks hilarious," said James in a low and cheery tone. John had the decency to blush at that admitting to himself that it probably did look really strange how they exchanged letters like that. Writing a last note, John handed it to her.

Seems like it looks suspicious that we trade little papers here, so I'll give you my number so that you can text me later. What do you have next period?

Under that note was his phone number, which Astrid quickly put into her phone, sending her next message directly via phone.

Unknown number: I have chemistry next, you?

J: Also chemistry. So i guess you'll have to endure my prodding a bit more :P

Astrid: I don't really mind, it's better than just being isolated in the class. But I would rather be at home right now...

J: I guess I can relate to that? Do you have any particular hobbies?

A: Not really, I like to write, but that's about it...

J: Hey, I like to write, too! What kind of stuff do you write?

A: Poems, short stories everything that comes into my mind. And you?

J: Weeeeell.... mostly longer stories with particular themes... can I read one of your poems at some point?

A: I'd rather not... They aren't really that good...

J: Ah, let me be the judge of that ;)

A: Well, if you say so...

J: By the way, how are you so strong? My power gives me the overall strength of people in levels, and you're level 27 where Brun is only level 15. How are you that much stronger when you are younger than her?

A: Technically, I'm not younger than her... and I guess my power is something that's... not really something I want to talk about... It's basically the reason why I didn't see Brun for that long...

J: Wait, what? You're not younger than her? But my powers told me you were 18, same age as me and three years younger than Brun

A: Huh... That's interesting... But we should actually be the same age.

J: Like... Twins?

'Oh god, please say yes,' was everything that went through John's head.

A: Yeah, we're fraternal twins.

Wow, looks like Gaia was in a good mood again today, but John would never talk back to her that would only end badly...

J: But... how does that work? How are you two twins if you're three years apart?

A: Honestly, I don't know... That is indeed something that should not happen... I can't even say where it came from... I'll talk to sis about it, maybe she knows more...

Time flew by while John was texting with Astrid, so he only noticed that the period was over once the bell rang and let all the people out of their lessons.

John put his stuff away and waited for Astrid to collect her own stuff, so he could take her to the next lesson.

While John waited for her to collect her business book from Mr. Oliviera, John saw that a big crowd had gathered outside of the classroom, seemingly forming a ring around some people. Once she was done with the teacher, the two of them left the classroom and immediately saw what was happening.

Frank had the new guy James by the collar and pushed him against the lockers. "You think you can touch my Vanessa, you faggot? You might be the new kid, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't know how things work around here. Now apologize to her, give me your money and get the fuck out of my sight, are we clear?"

"B-But, I didn't do anything..." was James' weak response, which only resulted in him getting a punch in the face, thankfully not breaking his face.

John only remembered this kind of situation too well, being hoisted up by Frank and getting punched, and he could very well remember how much he wanted someone to intervene then instead of just watching.

So John did exactly that, he intervened.
