Chapter 24
by Debbuger
Do you let them go?
Yes (hope)
There is nothing you can do against these blue eyes, the only thing you knew you didn't want was to see them with tears. "Hurry up, she's tough, she'll be alright" I said to her. The blue eyes had a look of relief in them. "Thank you, I promise we will talk." Stephanie said as she leaned in to a kiss. It was a sweet kiss, even if a bit painful as I could feel my upper lip swell from one of the **** girl's punches. Stephanie picked the girl up on her shoulder and vanished in the bushes.
I scanned the surroundings around me six men lay on the ground. It was clear two of them dead, the one who got shot first by the gunman and the gunman himself. The others, two of which were kneeling previously were now laying on their faces still knocked out from the tasers. The bigger guy, now to my right, was on the ground crying in pain, holding his shattered knee, by the looks of it he won't be able to use it as he did before. To my left lay the skinny man, **** from the treatment he received from Stephanie, next to him a large black bag.
"Show me you hands" I heard someone calling behind me, the cavalry has arrived, I thought. "Relax Johnny, he's with us. That's the new detective for the S.C.U" Lydia intervened on my behalf, causing the uniform officer to lower his gun. "Sorry Sir, you can never be too careful. The fuck happened here anyway?" Johnny asked, holstering his gun and looking around. Lydia came over to me and examined my face, her gentle touch was soothing. "For someone who just went toe to toe with two of the Batgirls, you don't look that bad, usually the black one sends people to the hospital for a few days." Lydia said, as she concluded that apart from a swollen lip and some small cuts on my arms, my injuries weren't that severe. Then she moved to check the other men on the ground, it was clear that finding wounded men on the ground wasn't new for this medic.
"Wow.. that must be a lot of cash" a second policeman standing near the skinny man opened the black bag. "Central from 107, it appears to be some transaction gone bad. I need support and an ambulance, off-duty detectives on site. Code bat, over." he said into the radio, and a female voice confirmed receiving the message in return. "Where are the batgirls now?" He asked me, "I don't know.. they just vanished as soon as they saw the police lights." I answered the man.
"Well.. it looks like today is yours first day after all. Fuck, I have to call Sonia and inform her about this. Sorry Adam this might take a while. Try and remember the most details you can until the rest will arrive here." Lydia said, cursing again as she took out her phone and dialed the Captain's number.
