Nate slumped against the exterior of the dining hall. He felt the dense layer of ivy that covered the building prickling his neck. Why couldn’t this just go smoothly? He liked Candace and she liked him. Why did that jerk Hank have to come into the picture? No one had bothered to tell Nate his cousin was transferring here. Oh well, Hank was an asshole, but he was family, and Nate believed he could get assurances from him that he’d keep his mouth shut about that time he saw Nate in the shower. Yes! Nate thought excitedly. He’d shut Hank down. And it was a stroke of luck that Hank mentioned the whole grower thing – nothing wrong with feeding Hank a little misinformation on that front.
