Katarina got up from the stool, her short dress swishing down to cover up the small amount of leg again. Gripping her spear confidently she quietly traversed the short space towards the door and slipped out onto the cool, dark street.
She scanned the village, focusing around the spot where she had saw the moving shadow from the window. There was a little alleyway there between the tailors and the cobblers. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary though but she was sure that she had seen something there before. Something larger than the imps.
Against her better judgement she made her way across the street and dashed into the alleyway. Her bright green eyes had adjusted to the dark now and she could see clearly in the starlight now that the storm had passed. At the end of the the alleyway, she saw a figure, not much shorter that Katarina herself facing the street behind the one she had come from. It had long horns that protruded out the side of it's head and they curled upward, pointing straight into the sky.
This demon was different from the rest of the imps. Other than the fact that it was much taller, its tail was much longer than its shorter counterparts. It was also lithe, lined with muscle with limbs that were much longer than it's body had any right to. The demon was obviously built for speed and physical combat.
The most striking difference though was that its skin was a pale grey that shone under the moonlight. Doubt crept up to Katarina again, she could sense that this one would be much more powerful than the rest. It clearly wasn't a mere imp.
She cast her eyes backwards towards where she came. The alleyway was clear for the moment. She could retreat for now and go get help, the demon had not seemed to notice her yet. Surely Eobard and Gilly were finished...
