Creeping through the underbrush as quietly as possible, Druuna eased her body up against the cabins wall and peered into the soft light coming from the window. What she saw made her blood run cold.
Inside the cabin sat three men, one of whom she recognized as the muscle-bound man named Carson who had threatened to break her feet if she tried to escape. The three bandits were drunk as far as Druuna could see, one of them was snoring noisily in the corner and the other two (Carson and a short, squat bandit) were playing cards while waiting for whatever they were cooking to be done.
As far as Druuna could tell, Carson and the other awake man were both armed with small firearms of some sort. There didn?t seem to be any other bandits around either. They had likely split into small search parties of three or four to look for her and Janette. Druuna had the advantage of surprise on her side, and the men seemed to be half drunk. Would she risk it?
