Yes, and she doesn't look happy.

Both James and Jade turned towards the doorway where, you guessed it, the larger female was crouching. There seemed to be a lot of those little 'still' moments this morning, where time seems to slow to a crawl and everything is still. This particular moment seemed to last an eternity, until the unexpected happens. James feels the still warm patty being slowly pulled from his hand. glancing down, he saw Jade had reached out to take it, but was still looking the other canine directly in the eyes. It was as if Jade was telling the other one, "I'm going to do what I want, deal with it."

This didn't stop the other one from keeping her menacing stance, and glaring at them like she was about to turn his kitchen into a bloodbath. She did stop growling though, which allowed him to calm down just enough to remember she still needed a name. James supposed he could try to get creative this time, but why ruin a good theme. If the one with green eyes is Jade, then this one will be Sapphire, for her blue eyes. Hey, if it's not broke, you know.

Jade, still staring strait at Sapphire, bit into the patty... And stopped, her eyes going wide in surprise for a moment, before finishing the bite and lowering the treat. She chewed slowly, taking her time before swallowing, then looked up at him. James wasn't entirely sure what to make of the look on her face, a mix of surprise, happiness, and... Sadness?

Not being able to help himself, James reached out to run his fingers across Jades cheek, giving her a smile. If he had to guess, the look she was giving him had the question of 'this is mine?'. He had no idea if she would understand if he tried to tell her yes, and that look of sadness just compelled him to try and comfort her.

She got the hint, and raised her hand to take another bite while James continued to gently run his fingers through the fur on her head. They barely noticed when Sapphire, looking heartbroken, silently slunk back down the hallway alone.
