Jane smiled and said: "Of course! I would absolutely love to!"

"Oh my goodness!" Rachel put her hands against her cheeks, as though trying to hold down her huge smile. Holy crap she is adorable! Jane thought. I am so going to enjoy seeing her O-face! "I'm so happy!" Rachel said, doing a little dance in her chair. "I know you and Alice go way back, and I felt... I mean, you know: I felt bad coming between you two."

"Oh, honey, you didn't come between us!" Jane leaned forward and put a hand on Rachel's hand, which was still pressed against her blushing cheek. "I love Alice like a sister, the fact that you make her so happy makes me just as happy! Do you know you're the only person Alice has ever dated who I genuinely liked! And I do like you, a lot!"

"Oh... I mean... thank you?"

"You're welcome. I mean..." Jane pulled her hand away and put her fingertips on her chest in a gesture of sincerity. "I'm honoured you want to share your sex life together with me. That is so... I think, I mean, that's the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me!"

"So you'll... um... m-make love to us tonight?" Rachel chewed her lower lip.

"Of course! I would love to! I mean..." she chuckled. "If Alice forgives me by then."

"Oh!" Rachel lowered her hands from her face and adopted a look of genuine concern. "That's right! You did something to some of Alice's shoes! Oh no!"

"Don't worry, I'm sure I can placate her. In fact, I promise, I'll pull out all the stops to make sure we can, you know... consummate this new form of our joint friendship."

"You better!" Rachel said putting her hands on her hips.

Jane laughed.

"Oh! Do you have the time? For some reason I forgot my phone in my room."

Jane summoned her pencil box and extracted her phone. "Uh, yeah." She told Rachel the time.

"Oh, I need to get to work!"

"Work? Your professor has lecture hours today?"

"Oh, no, not my TA job, I got another job as a server here at the café."

"Oh wow! Nice!" Suddenly Jane realized that, in order to do her job, Rachel would need to be able to wear the little apron that the café had it's servers wear. She opened her magic notebook and amended Rachel's entry.

"What'cha writing?" Rachel craned her neck a little to see.

"Oh, just something about how I'm going to make things up with Alice - but tell me, why two jobs? Don't you have a scholarship?"

Sighing with contentment, {first name} forcibly wrenched her mind away from having a good time to figuring out what she was going to do with the Alice situation. There were several tactics she could attempt: but all of them boiled down to bribery of some kind. Compensation, probably on top of replacing the lost items with cooler, magical items.
