Years Later... With Batman

It was the surprise she felt, before the fall. She hadn't expected a mere man to fight like he had. She was laying on her back, facing the ceiling. The Dark Knight towering over her. "Again." He said. "How did you do that?" She asked, clambering to her feet. "You were distracted." At this, she scoffed. "I'm never distracted." Batman cracked his neck. "Prove it."

She swung a right hook, he ducked under and tapped her side, not hard, just enough to make sure she felt the impact... Enough to make her know she was leaving herself open. She brought up her knee to hit his chin, he ducked behind her and pushed her back. Stumbling forwards Diana growled at herself. She had fought, and beaten Gods! How was this mortal making her look the fool?! "What's your secret Batman?" She asked readjusting her bracelets. "What makes you fight?" Batman paused for a moment, thinking. "Belief." He finally said. "Belief in what?" "Belief that I can win." Diana narrowed her eyes, the ego, the cockiness that oozed from the man... She hated it. She wanted to hate it... She kinda liked it.

Again and again they practiced, well into the night. "Okay, okay, okay..." Diana said, hands in the air. The score was currently 8-12 in the Bat's favor. It was time to rethink strategies. "... Lemme get a drink, you want something?" She asked, sweat dripping through her hair. Whereas the Batman had spent the whole session wearing his mask and suit, Diana had worn a fitness bra and sweat pants, she couldn't even image how sweaty Batman must be under that black mask. "Fine." He answered.

When Diana returned from getting a glass of water she found Bruce examining her lasso of truth, which she had left on a bench beside the sparring ring and suddenly an idea struck her. Silently, but quickly she moved forward, Batman seemed transfixed by it, the great detective with no explanation for her magic. When she got behind him she moved with a speed that would have made Barry proud. Wrapping the Dark Knight up in the lasso he had been examining. "Diana!" He shouted in surprise. Wonder Woman grinned. "Oh, look... A bat in my trap." She said with a cocked eyebrow. "I wonder what truths he has to tell." Batman just glared at her. "Well done. You won. Let me go." Diana shook her head. "This is the lasso of truth... It compels you to speak truly. You cannot lie to me." She couldn't be sure, but was that... panic? In the Knight's eye? She'd soon see.

"First question:...."

"Diana."

"Shhh, shh now... I'm asking the questions. Questions one: Who are you?"

"I'm Batman."

"Who are you really?"

"Batman."

"The Lasso compels you!"

"I AM BATMAN."

Diana nodded. Fine. He could have that one. "Second, how could you defeat me in combat? You're just a man?"

"You were distracted."

"I'M NEVER DISTRACTED!"

Batman sat silently, staring up at him.

"Do you like being helpless, tied up? At the mercy of a women?"

"Not the first time."

"That wasn't the question."

"Depends."

"On what?"

"What they have in mind."

She smiled. "I think you'll like what I have in mind.
