Chapter 46 by Corruption Corruption

Are you forgetting something?

Yeah.

You look over the details and remember something you had seen before you got distracted.

The Seeking Shelter quest mentioned things were about to get worse!

Your head shoots up and you put one Stat point into PER.

You sniff the air, and smell cigarette smoke from one of the cops who took the chance to light up, but under it is another smell just can’t place.

Asking to move upwind of the cop he takes offense, but you tell him “I smell something odd, and your cigarette’s masking the smell!”

He was about to object, but one of the other cops step in and tell him, “Let this slide. If there is something odd, I want to know about it!”

You go upwind and breathe in deeply. The cop does as well. He also gets the smell, and it is coming from the house.

Suddenly you place it. “SHIT! That’s burning wood and other chemicals you find in a house!”

The cop yells out to the others “There is faint smoke coming from there!”

The others start to bung out, carrying whatever they had.

You grab the arm of the cop with you and tell him “Power board is this way!”

Going there you throw it open and turn the main switch off. That should help prevent some of the problems.

You are taken over to the family, and tell them “I turned the power off, and don’t think water will be an issue. Let’s turn it off to be safe. We don’t have gas, so we are safe there.”

They ignore you on the water.

Soon the cops start looking for the source of the smoke.

The floor started to heat up and everyone got out. The fire was below the floor!

The fire fighters came and put the fire out quickly.

The fire fighters there made their response. The fire damage meant the place was unsafe to live in, or even visit a lot, but that wasn’t the only problem. The house was made using asbestos, and had to be demolished. The material alone would limit visitation

That was when something else came into play. The water pipes burst.

The heat and cold, as well as being hit by things knocked parts loose and now there were broken pipes.

That was learned while the fire fighters were making their report. The water mains were turned off, but that was bad enough to cause more problems.

Turns out the floor supports were built on top of the ground, and the water from the flooding and fire hoses eroded some of that water, making the place unsafe.

There was no way you would be allowed in.

What do you do?
