You bring up your empty-gun-holding arm to the inside of the shield as the strike lands on it, leaning and pushing into it with all of your weight. Ripples of **** go all through your body from the attack, but you're unharmed and unmoved. You're able to lock your knees, get your feet into position, and sidestep at the same time as you shove your shield back into the monster's scythe arm, circling around it and pushing it out to the side all in one move, totally unharmed.

Go you! That all happened so fast, but you deserve a real pat on the back for it.{if@ StaffCombat == True} It was just like one of the techniques you learned for staff-based combat last week, circling around the strike and pushing out like that.{else} It was just like what you've seen on a bunch of Warrior posters around your room at home, but pulling it off so flawlessly is really great!{endif}

Cameron closes the distance, with his monster now defeated by the hands of Warrior Debbie, and slams right into the monster's flank in a sort of tackle where the flat sides of his shields are his point of impact. The stunned one-armed monster is send sprawling to the ground as Cameron backs up off of it and retightens one of his forearm shield straps. Before the monster can scramble to its feet again, you're given enough time to load a few regular impact bullets into your pepperbox pistol -- together, with Cameron's help, you're able to finish the monster off through a series of bladed-shield punches and impact bullet shooting.

"Those explosive bullets are really powerful!" Cameron says, getting up off of the still monster and walking over to you. He's panting a bit after exerting himself, but he (like you) is completely unharmed.

You nod excitedly. "And those shield straps keep coming loose, too!"

Cameron nods once, a bit confused. Which is a weird way to react to a compliment about punching strength, but to each their own.

Now! Just because you're awesome and finished off two monsters doesn't mean the battle is over! Because there were three of them. The last one is the one that was engaged with Delilah on the bridge, and as you look over now, it looks like not much progress has been made on either side. Delilah's dodging and jumping around attacks with a lot of showmanship, and deflecting the other attacks -- and the monster's chitin is fully absorbing sickle strikes, and deflecting the other ones with its scythes! It looks like neither side has landed a proper hit yet.

You load impact bullets into each of your pistol's five chamber-barrels again, then give it a good spin. Maybe you could help her out a bit, since you're all done over here now?
