Writing and publishing

This section follows the usual path from a story idea to a published branching story.

Start with Create and Publish a Story to choose the title, description, mode, roles, variables, and appearance. Continue with Story Modes, Roles, and Review when more than one person will work on the story or contributions need approval.

Use the remaining topics when you need to:

• Write and Publish Chapters to write, save, submit, or publish a chapter;
• Managing Your Stories and Chapters to find drafts, review queues, and recently deleted work;
• Managing Branches, Links, Move, and Reorder to link, move, or reorder branches;
• Formatting, Images, Links, and Tables to format chapter content;
• Tags and Discovery to add useful chapter tags;
• Polls and Interactive Blocks to create polls, reveals, locks, and chat bubbles;
• Element Themes to choose how story elements look.

The Guide describes the controls readers and authors can use on CHYOA. It does not replace the Content Rules, and a technically valid chapter can still require changes before publication.
