Chapter 17 by TheUnfathomable TheUnfathomable

What could he possibly be thinking?

Workshopping a logo is hard work

The spirit floated in the center of the room facing towards me. It "stood" in a relaxed pose, it's head leaning slightly to one side underneath the mask and hood. It swayed slightly back and forth, unchanging in action as I investigated its appearance. There truly was no physical form beneath the robes, but there was definitely a body constructed of mana.

After getting a good look of it. I went back in front of it. I took a deep breath, before stretching out my arm and touching its mask. It made no response as I laid my hand upon its mask, which I took as a good sign. 'It truly is unfeeling, huh?'

I took another deep breath before channeling my Divine Power, activating Mark of Divine. The HUD responded, but I already knew what it would be saying, I didn't have a Divine Mark. I didn't care though; I had an idea for that. I simply let the Divine Power flood forth, forming into the shape that would represent me for the foreseeable future.

The blank mask began to change, lines beginning to trace themselves upon it, forming a design. First, a ring was formed around the center of the mask. This ring grew more detailed, forming into an intricate wreath of two entangled strings. One a vine with thorns, the other a strand of flesh and fangs. This sharp wreath was encircling a great vertical eye. As the lines finished tracing themselves, they all glowed slightly the sickening green color that represented my power, before fading to a greenish black.

I admired the design. It was quite perfect. Not to elegant to seem like a stuck-up light god, but not so gory or brutal that it seemed like an abusive dark god. It was the perfect mix of dignified and dangerous to me. I patted the spirit's head and thanked it, though it would be confused as to why if it could think. Now it was time to see what it could do.

"Can you talk?" I asked it. It shook it's head. "Well, at least you can reply. Can you write?" It shook it's head again. "Hmm. Can you preform complicated gestures." It nodded. 'At least I know it is actually answering, and not just shaking it's head to say it doesn't understand.' I gave out a slight sigh, before getting back to my testing. "Do you know of a way I can see your abilities?" It pointed it it's mask without hesitation. It took me a second to understand it was specifically pointing to the eye on the mask. "God's Eye?" It nodded.

God's Eye Activated

Spirit

Creator: Moged-Ruun (As the Spirit's creator, you can see it's full list of capabilities)

Race: Spirit (I) (Minor light infusion, Minor life infusion)

Class: Worshipper (I)

Abilities:

Ethereal Form (active)

Spells:

Holy Shield (Class) (divine)

Light Spear (Class) (light)

Lesser Restoration (Class) (life)

Nature's Power (Class) (life)

I gazed at its stats for a moment, considering them. It seems like it could not level up, but looking at it's abilities, it would have to be at around level 3 in both race and class. this made sense for the most part, that would be at round 20% of my power if I did the math right. Its Minor infusions gave it a +300% buff instead of my +1000%, but it was still quite useful. The fact that it lacked any of the abilities or buffs from my choices in the character creator was inconvenient, but I suppose it would be too easy if I could spend 10 mana to make a perfect clone of me.

I was considering what to do next when I noticed a light streaming into my room. I looked and was made aware that the sun was rising. I turned to the spirit, seeing this as another chance to test it. "Do you know what time it is?" It raised up one hand to a 5 and then did an extra 1 on it, with its other doing 5 6 times. "6:30?" I guessed, and it nodded. 'I never was a morning person, but since I don't sleep, I suppose it isn't an issue.' I pondered for a moment. 'Still, forming my domain must have taken far longer than I thought, for it to be morning already.'

I shrugged. Standing here would accomplish nothing. I gestured to the Spirit to follow me, which it seemed to understand, and prepared to leave my room. Nothing could be done about my clothes, I only had one pair, I would have to get some more today, if I could get some money. Other than that, I made myself look presentable yet rugged, a kind of "hard working high classman" look. I was satisfied in a few moments and exited my room to the main lobby.

As I entered the lobby, I nodded to the barkeep and took a seat at the same booth I sat at with the party yesterday. The barkeep simply stared, tracking the spirit with his head until it simply moved to be floating above the booth next to me, so that its legs would be inside the seat if it had them. He stared for a few moments, blinked about 3 times, then shook his head and sighed before getting back to his work. 'A respectable man.'

I entertained myself thinking over plans for the day while I waited for the party to awaken. It would be rude to leave without talking to them, and I could very much use some information from them to help me fit in. After planning it over for a while, my thoughts were interrupted by someone shouting. "What is that?!"

Who could be hollering at this hour?
