Chapter 5
by FallenSaint
Does something change with Tony?
Work the next day
Diana came into work feeling hopeful. Today was the day. She was going to find Tony at lunch and nothing was going to stop her! At least, that was her plan. Diana had barely gotten to her work space before Mary walked up from behind and tapped her on the should. Diana jumped and then turned to look at her boss.
"Everything ok Mary?"
"Yeah, everything's great. I just wanted to invite you to lunch. I had a few things I wanted to discuss with you. Nothing work related. Well, not really work related."
"Oh, us sure."
Diana couldn't help but feel like her chances of finding Tony were disappearing. She was feeling pretty down as she started work for the day. Part of her wondered what Mary needed to talk about. Her boss hadn't really called her out for lunch before and it was a little surprising. Diana worried that maybe she had done something wrong, but couldn't think of anything.
Later when lunch rolled around, Mary took Diana across the street to a little diner and they took a corner booth before placing their orders. Mary seemed to be in a good mood as she ordered a club sandwich and coke, so Diana didn't think she was in trouble. After their orders were placed and their drinks were at the table, Mary gave Diana a smile that looked like she had been scheming something.
"So I heard you got pretty drunk at the party. And that it was supposedly because of that guy from accounting. Want to spill the tea, or do I need to start making assumptions?"
"Oh god, I had hoped you hadn't heard about that. The short version of the story is that he's an ex and I sort of panicked and drank too much after seeing him."
"And what's the long version?"
"During our relationship in college, we were rather adventurous. I had wanted to put that life behind me and seeing him brought back a lot of memories."
"I'm guessing that they were pleasant memories."
"Maybe a little too pleasant."
"Is that why you've been looking for him," asked Mary with a knowing smile.
"That's... Part of it. Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure, ask away."
"The rumors about you... Are they true?"
"You mean about me sleeping with a woman? That she's Victor's boss?"
"Yeah. Are they true?"
"Very. I hadn't intended for it to happen. I went to a Halloween party that his company was hosting and she was there. I had never met a woman more intimidating than her. At first I worried that turning her down would affect Victor's job. After a while though, I learned that she was a lot sweeter than she appeared. Victor was really heartbroken at first when I came clean, but we worked through it. Now he accepts that my heart is shared between them. I make sure he knows that I love him deeply and I always do my best to reassure any fears that he has, but I can't live without her anymore. She pushes me to be adventurous and show sides of myself that I never thought possible."
"I see... So that kind of thing can work out?"
"I didn't think it could at first, but then I remembered my sister telling me about her boss. Apparently one of her coworkers approached the man and asked him to be a Bull for her. Her husband loved letting this other man dominate his wife. Eventually, the husband came out as bisexual and the boss started fucking them both. They all live together now, the boss got a big promotion, and the wife took over as the branch manager in the boss's old position."
"That's... Amazing."
"I'm guessing you asked about my life because of the guy from accounting."
"Yeah. When I met him again and had the memories resurface, I realized how much I missed that wild lifestyle. I love my husband, but I need more. That said, I don't want my husband to change at all. I guess I'm a little greedy."
"Is your husband ok with it?"
"Surprisingly, yes. At least, he said he is willing to try."
Mary nodded and fished a small piece of folded paper out of her purse.
"Then I feel comfortable giving this to you. Tony dropped it off yesterday, but you were off work. Word of advice from someone that's been through it: There is a part in the beginning that will feel so new and special. You might end up focusing on it so hard that you forget Jack is right there beside you. Try not to fall into that trap, but if you do, you better make damn sure that you fix it and prioritize him."
"Thank you so much," Diana said as she took the paper. Tony had written both his phone number and email address on it for her. Diana had worried that her chances were disappearing, but Mary had been the godsend that she had needed.
"I'll leave first, so give the guy a call already," Mary laughed as she picked up the bill and headed off to pay.
How does the call go?
