Chapter 71 by yamidamian

Does he go along with this?

With unjustified confidence

"A contest of..." It seems to take him a second before the exact implication of my statement process-easily marked by a boisterous laugh from him. "Ay-sounds like a fun evening. And when I win-you fuck off and don't turn up again." He gives a wink to the two sentinels. "Now if you excuse me, I'm going to be...resting and preparing." As if there was any need for clarification as to what that entailed, he gives a slight laugh and reaches down to give his own balls a slight squeeze before sauntering off, seemingly too amused to press the issue-which I guess means he's off my case until later tonight.

Someone else, whoever, seemed less than pleased with this turn of events. The elder the others had been consulting with. "You shouldn't have done that." I tried to defend myself "Sorry-but he seemed like the kind of dude who wouldn't back down from a challenge, so it was either a fight or something stupid-". At least, until she cut me off "Not that. I could care less about that oaf's fate." She leans in to whisper, her face inches away from the large opening of my worm-form's 'mouth'. "I'm referring to your spell, necromancer."

"Oh. That. Well, what would you have me do?" I really didn't have a lot to say on the subject-her tone sounded accusatory, though, so I decided to look a bit closer at her backround-yikes, she does not think well of me already. Apparently think I'm a bit too much like him-a perverted brute only doing a little good to worm their way in. Cynical thing. And, reasonably, a bit afraid, unsure how much I could brow-beaten. And so, she gives a frustrated sign. "Just...don't try anything like that while you're here, alright?"

In exchange, all I gave was a noncommital grunt, before sauntering off to somewhere slightly less crowded to put up roots while I wait until midnight for the competition. Have me some peace of mind not having to worry about knocking something over. Naturally, I drew more than a few stares-though most seemed unwilling to approach. This serves me just well-being able to mostly see them go about their routines. It's strangely calming after all the business and hustle-bustle the last weeks have been to watch them going about their relatively relaxed routines. And besides, I'll have plenty of time to 'know' them better later.

Come nightfall, how's it go?
