With charity towards the allies who have helped Rebecca

Ensign Goshin's face amazingly registered no surprise, even as the android encountered a real genie out of the old myths upon reporting to the bridge. "Greetings. I am Ensign Haruka Goshin. Pleased to meet you," The android gave a small, respectful bow, while holding her helmet beneath one arm. The genie returned the gesture, her sizable bosom bouncing with the over-enthusiastic motion. The android registered no surprise at that either.

"My name is Mahmuna. It is my pleasure to meet you! Have you thought up any wishes you want granted?"

"No," the android answered plainly. She was capable of all sorts of human-like reasoning and something close to emotional response, but still... asking an AI to describe their "wishes" was a tall task. Even if she had them, it would be hard to put them into words... "Captain, speaking frankly... I am ill-equipped for this task. This is a large responsibility and I do not trust my own logic. If we carelessly wish to meet Missing Memory- or even to have him destroyed- there could be unforeseen consequences. This seems to require... a human desire. Perhaps you can test with something we can be certain will not be life threatening?"

"That's very logical, ensign." The captain closed her eyes contemplatively and thought about what a human like her might ask for. Gold was of no use in the current civilization... She was already an acclaimed captain... The universe was so close to peace... Should she ask for the love and romance she'd never had time to cultivate as humanity's last line of defense in the war? No, that was embarrassing! She shook her head and dispelled the idea.

Slowly, a thought came to her... It was really her allies who deserved something from the genie. These AIs didn't know it, but there were all sorts of wants they ought to have, if only they could experience the feeling of "want." They deserved to be rewarded for their service and even once they got back, she'd probably be the one who got all the credit for their adventures. It would take a long time for humanity to trust AIs again. With a sense of empathy towards her comrades, she acknowledged that they, most of all, deserved to benefit from this wish. With it, she could grant them experiences that the confines of AI would never otherwise allow them!

"I know what I want to wish for." Speaking seriously, the captain pressed one hand to her heart and smiled at her ally... no... friend. "I want Haruka and FV both to have a human body!"

The android blinked her black eyes and frowned. "Captain?"

"We've come so far, Haruka... I couldn't have done it without you and FV. You two deserve something back for all of it. As a human, my ability to grant you anything you desire is limited... But with a genie's power, maybe I can do something to awaken you to the same joys and celebrations I feel! I want you to be able to experience all of that..."

"... Captain... That is..." The android found herself at a loss for words. She felt no anxiety or trepidation towards the wish... but did she feel a tingle of excitement? Was that possible for a robot? She wondered if FV felt the same way.

The AI made itself known, its voice coming from all around them. "Captain, strongly recommending you rephrase the wish. The grammatical-"

"Ha ha ha! Accept your gift graciously, you goofy AI," Rebecca laughed, thinking that the captain was probably trying to be humble and refuse the genie's gift. "You guys get first dibs! I won't take no for an answer: I wish for Haruka and FV both to have a human body!"
