John was a few feet from his math class when suddenly he saw the entire hallway change, similar to when he met Moira the first time. John immediately began to look around, trying to figure out who put him in this strange space but he saw no one. Panicked, John started to run when he turned a corner and THUD! fell to the ground. He looked up and saw Mrs. Wentworth staring down at him.

“So, you are the new magic user? How pathetic,” was all she said as her eyes seemed to burn into his very soul. John began to shake from the pure fear that overtook him. There was something about Mrs. Wentworth that made him unable to be anything but fearful. “Ah well, you’re going to meet those high horse Brightons after school, correct?”

“Y-y-yes,” cowered John.

“Good. You will place this rune in any location in the house where it will not be found, understood?” John nodded his head. “Good. Do this for me and I shall reward you. And trust me, my rewards will be far greater than anything the Brightons can give you and will last longer than any ‘gift’ that whore of a teacher can give you. Oh, and if you betray me, I’ll slaughter your family and **** you for 100 years before I’ll even think of letting you die,” Mrs. Wentworth informed John. With her business done, she walked to the end of the hall, John's eyes mesmerized by her surprisingly tone ass despite his fear, turned the corner, and suddenly John was sitting on the floor in the middle of a busy hallway. Nearly everyone ignored him and he got pushed around by everyone walking by.

“Ok John, calm down. Everything is gonna be fine. Just gotta find a place to hide this rune in Moira’s house,” John collected his thoughts as he got up. As soon as he was fully up, a hand grabbed his shoulder and spun him around. There he saw Moira who had a stern look on her face.

“What were you doing with the witch?!” Moira demanded to know. John concluded that the witch must mean Mrs. Wentworth. So she knows Mrs. Wentworth is a magic user too? Does that mean she knows about June too?

“You mean Mrs. Wentworth? I was walking to class, she created a barrier, called me pathetic, and threatened to harm my family if I did anything against her,” John told her. While everything he said was true, he figured it’d be best not to mention the rune thing for the moment.

“Yeah, that does sound like her. She’s a powerful witch John, it’s best if you try to avoid her. Not to mention, if we find out you’re working with her, then we’ll have to neutralize you as a threat,” Moira said in a matter of fact way.

“Yeah I don’t think I want to associate with that crazy ass lady. Oh, and Moira, how many magic users are at the school?”

“Including you, there are now four student magic users and one teacher magic user,” answered Moira. But if the teacher is Mrs. Wentworth, then how does June have that necklace? pondered John.

“Uh, is it possible for normal people to stumble across Abyss items?” John asked hoping Moira wouldn’t read too much into the question.

“It’s not unheard of for a normal human to stumble upon an Abyss item. Depending on the item, Gaia may directly intervene and remove the item and any memory of it from a person, but if the item is mundane or just enhancing a person’s natural abilities then Gaia tends to leave it be. Why are you asking this?”

“Oh uh no reason. Just wanted to know in case I ran into someone with no magic but a magic object,” John hoped the lie would work.

“Hmm. That is a good thing to know about. If you find anybody with a magic item let me know. The Order will acquire the item for the person’s own safely,” Moira told John.

“Ok, will do. I have to get to class now.”

“As do I. Goodbye John.”

“Bye Moira, see you later,” and with that, John and Moira headed to their respective classes.

John made it to Mrs. Flynn’s math class just in time. Mrs. Flynn had a nasty habit of locking the door once it was class time to prevent late students from getting in. John took his seat and thought about what he should do. He could follow through with what Mrs. Wentworth told him to do, but would that make him an enemy of Moira and her family? But if he told Moira would Mrs. Wentworth follow through on her threat? Could Moira protect him and his family? John just couldn’t decide what to do. That’s when he noticed the blinking light indicating a minimized pop up.

Mrs. Wentworth has threatened to kill you and your family if you don’t deliver the rune to the Brighton Estate. I think you should do it, and that’s totally not because that woman scares me and I’m a fucking god.

“Well, guess I have little choice…” John mumbled to himself as he clicked yes. He paid the least amount of attention to class as he racked his brain on a way to get out of this mess. He needed a way to calm down so he decided to use one of his moves.
