Chapter 10
by Warlord
Will you kill Gidul?
Wise Counsel (Yes)
"I have no love for Gidul, Nothing will stand in my way."
You say, at last finding your voice here in the presence of Karnak.
"I will either succeed or I will die." With these words you look the dragon directly in its eye, confirming your resolve to finish what your ancestors began in those ages past.
"True enough. I wonder why I even bothered to ask, I wouldn’t expect anything less." He says, unfazed by your intensity.
"Do not think you will defeat her so easily as you did that young Raghik, you can't really hope to outwit her or outrun her so I've decided to make things a bit more fair. Gidul has many abilities, among them is the ability to repair nearly any damage done to her body and the capability to heal quite rapidly, the only way to actually kill her would be to damage the root core near the center of her body. If you hadn't known this your **** would be almost certain by my estimations so you can thank me for that at a later time. She could also simply flee from you if she felt overwhelmed or outclassed, for that you will also need this."
A stone falls from the ceiling above you and lands at your feet, a strange symbol shimmers from within it.
"This is a stone of binding. If you cast this stone onto the ground, it will seal everything within a radius of 10 meters around it. This binding prevents anything from leaving the circle or entering it for a time. The effect should last for a few minutes but after enough time has passed the stone will crumble and the binding will be released. The stone should prevent her from simply teleporting away from you but it won't last long so you'll have to defeat her quickly, but if you are careless she will not hesitate to kill you. Oh and one more thing, before I forget." You feel a strange tickling in your throat, though you try not to appear uncomfortable. "This is sort of a parting gift. It is called Allspeech. It is a tune which allows you to read, speak, and understand any of the common tongues. You'll probably need that considering that your kind haven't shared a language with the rest of the world for a few centuries. Go on now then, I'll be watching."
The light now detaches itself from the ceiling and floats off ahead of you, leading you back the way you came. You have many questions you would like to ask the dragon, but the more sensible part of you decides that they aren’t important enough to warrant further conversation. Once you emerge from the cave the light dissipates and you are left deep in the greenwood, then you hear the familiar whistling cry of an elk. Your stomach grumbles, a reminder of what you came here for, the hunt calling you again. Immediately you sprint in the direction of the clamour, it was only a half mile or so away and should be an easy kill. The sun hangs high in the sky casting thin shadows on you here and there as you weave adeptly between the tall trees. The elk cries again but this time the call is one of distress, something has found your prey first. A familiar odor drifts in the changing winds, Wolves. In moments you can spot three ahead of you, one moving to finish off a grounded elk while the other two grab its legs. Instantly you are upon them, the first one having no time to react to your presence before you drive a tusk clean through its skull. In that very instant a faint but distinct power flows fluidly through your weapon and disperses throughout your body. It's effect is immediate, suddenly you can hear everything, smell everything in perfect plain detail. The second wolf lunges for your leg but you drive your heel into its **** nose which sends it hurtling and yelping backwards into the brush. The last one lunges for the back of your neck but you are well aware of its intent, your left blade swinging in a wide horizontal arc dividing the wolf in two. You can hear the surviving wolfs muscles expanding and contracting against one another as it flees away from you as fast as it can, you can smell the blood around you and even the faintest scents are strong, but then you smell Rigga. Remembering your duty to your new mate you sheath both of your weapons and pick up your kills. With your left hand you pick up the first wolf and the back half of the last wolf and tuck them under your left arm, then you pick up the front half of the last wolf and bite down on the scruff of its neck so that you can carry it in your mouth, and lastly you pick up the elk. You grab the 300 pound beast by its antlers and toss it over your shoulder as though it were no more than a rabbit. Then you make way toward your mate.
The sun is almost over the mountains when you arrive back at the gathering place of your people. They all watch you as you pass by, uncertain what to make of the glow that emanates from your tattoos, but smart enough to avoid entertaining any curiosities for long. Everyone but Rigga manages to curb their inquiries quite well. When you find her she is sitting beneath the same tree, cleaning the meat off of what looks like a boar hide. You drop your kills at her feet one by one, glad to have the dirty wet fur of that wolf out of your mouth. Still you can't seem to get the taste of blood, mildew, and pine sap off of your tongue, and you're sure you're going to be spitting up hairs for at least a day or two.
"These are for us, Mate Rigga, does this please you?" You say half expectantly. You hope this in someway eases the tension between the two of you at least to a degree. She looks up at you as you tower over her and her eyes mask her intentions quite well. You aren't sure what she's thinking and the silence only makes your feelings of discomfort grow.
"Thank you Mate Ogma." She says, half smiling. "Would you please share it with me?" You grin broadly, both at the relief and at the pleasant sound of her almost musical voice. "Absolutely." You say, a tangible enthusiasm in your voice now. She can't help but smile at your eagerness and it isn't long before the two of you are talking like old friends and exchanging stories. When the topic of your tattoo comes up you do not hesitate to regale her with the tale of your meeting with the dragon Karnak. When you mention a dragon her eyes go wide, whither in doubt or shock you cannot discern. She listens intently however, though there is an understandable amount of skepticism in her following questions. The conversation continues on long after the sun has gone down in the west and it only ends with the two of you locked in a lustful embrace and entwined in one another's passions.
