Chapter 88 by Mrwhysper Mrwhysper

That was heavy...

Whysper’s Wramblings

Jimmy’s antagonist was always going to be his father. I planned that out from the beginning. The primary antagonist was going to be named Bill Stanitz, a retired boxer or possibly pro wrestler. Everything was going to come to a head at a boxing tournament. Then I hit writer’s block sometime around Jimmy’s meeting with Chrissy. I knew where the story wanted to go but for the life of me couldn’t figure out how to take it there. So I fell back on my Gamemaster training, which makes sense as I use this as my gaming fix now that I no longer have a group.

Whenever my party would sit around dithering, I’d rip off a sheet of paper, crumple it into a ball, and toss it in the middle of them. Then I’d start counting down from ten. That’s how a Molotov cocktail ended up flying through Chrissy’s window. I was thinking that I’d make it the bikers, have them working for Bill. It made sense. And then I watched Wrinkles The Clown and had a weird dream about it, so we ended up with Mr. Happy.

Mr. Happy was till going to be Bill, still be Jimmy’s father, but the timeline was off. I would have to do some serious finagling with my own outline to make it work. Around that time I decided to do the Rasputin dream sequence, and decided to spin it off into its own branch. About halfway through I read Alex Grecian’s Rasputin comic series and that’s when it clicked.

I dropped hints. I really did. Fuck, I wrote a whole Rasputin branch. Jimmy’s own description reads like a younger version of the Mad Monk. I was gonna keep dropping them too, but this last chapter snuck out of me.

At any rate we’ve just pulled into the first station on that crazy train ride I’ve been promising y’all. The rest of the arc shouldn’t give Jimmy or his girls much chance to breathe as things begin to escalate. There are a couple more twists coming here too, so make sure your safety bar is locked in place and keep all extremities inside the car. We’re about to go down that first big hill.

Talk to me, people. Let me know what you think, what you don’t like, and what you wanna see more of. I always respond, and usually pretty quickly.
