Chapter 10 by Gatsha Gatsha

How will your first day of classes go?

Who knows? You're all the way zoned out.

By some miracle, you manage to avoid oversleeping. You were convinced your first day of classes was going to suck; the only thing that would suck worse is if you were late for them. You rush the short steps from the bed to the shower, the shower to the kitchen, the kitchen to your bag and books... You weren't the one who organized any of those things, but Tsu had done such a fantastic job sorting them, everything was in a more right place than you would have put it yourself.

Shit... What a great maid. What a fine woman. There was nothing in the Quirk control you gave her that told her she had to go so far above and beyond... That had all been her nature.

As your thoughts turn from your first day of university to your favorite heroine/frog/friend/maid, everything following seems to happen in a blur. You're pretty damn lucky you'd had nothing better to do than plan out your route and absorb your class schedule before this whole business with Tsu started, because you're totally checked out for it, now.

Ignoring the scenery passing by, first on the bus and then on the walk, you think about the most important topic: you need to find some way to fix your mistake from yesterday. You don't have to worry about her skipping out... unless you screwed something up, your restless brain reminds you. At the same time, even if that's secured, you don't want her to hate your guts. You spend a long time thinking about what you really want, to the exclusion of every subject you sleepwalk through.

First, you keep reminding yourself that you don't want to become a villain. There's some small piece of a moral compass still in you... but, perhaps more importantly, you remind yourself that if your behavior really becomes villainous, heroes can start to take an interest in you. Even if you were to turn Tsu into your own personal combatant (again, not that you plan to!), as amazing of a hero as she is, there's no way she's going to be able to save your ass from a squad of her pissed-off pals.

So, you just give up? No... Second, you want Tsu in your life, and not just as a friend. After sleeping on it, then thinking about it half a day, you've decided you're just as certain on this point as you were the first. Having Tsu show her your panties and feed you was just the tip of the iceberg, wasn't it? Every time you try to think about how you were just going to break things off, be a good person, and get back to your boring, ordinary life, her powerful legs frog-kick their way back into your head.

You want Tsu to be happy, to continue protecting the peace and saving lives as a hero, and, most importantly, to keep being your reliable friend...

You also want Tsu to keep being your maid, your walking daydream, your personal fantasy tool for sexual relief and venting your frustration...

You want Tsu to be both of those people, essentially at the same time. It sounds like a magic trick. Between classes, you've wandered to the roof of the school building, staring alone in the vague direction as you bounce pointlessly between imagining the two hypothetical extremes while holding onto the vertical bars of the guardrail that prevents falling. You mutter to yourself that what you really need is a class on responsibly using your quirk...

"Responsibly using your quirk? Ribbit?"

Yeah, ribbit. Responsibly-

You fall back, startled, but before you can land on your butt, the figure who'd just interrupted your train of thought vaults to the top of the safety fence, shoots out her tongue, and wraps it around your wrist to straighten you up. You almost fall over anyway, but her tongue seems stronger than your gravity, and she pulls you to your feet.

You complain to Tsu that this is the second time! She seems to be getting a kick out of showing up out of nowhere and nearly giving you a heart attack.

"Maybe." The frog heroine perched up on the railing, now clad in her familiar green hero jumpsuit, hops down and lands effortlessly in front of you in spite of the several-foot fall. "You're too young to be having a heart attack, Ren. Ribbit. What was that about using your quirk responsibly, though?"

Ah... You lie, telling her you were just thinking about how to make sure you don't overdo it and pass out like you did before.

That defensive, reflexive posture probably doesn't bode well for any attempt to try to be a decent guy. Ignoring that for now...

You ask Tsu what she's doing here. Is this part of her usual patrol route? And how did she know you'd be here?

"As a matter of fact, it is, ribbit. I wouldn't normally be here at this time, though. I changed up the route a little, ribbit. I saw your class schedule while I was cleaning up all your stuff, and with a short break, I figured I'd find you outside the building. How's the first day of classes, ribbit?"

You tell her you can hardly focus at all.

Tsu's brow creases just slightly with concern. "I thought that might be the case, ribbit. That's no good, Ren. I'll give you some good note-taking tips some other time when I'm off the clock, ribbit." When you don't respond immediately to that, being uncertain of what to say, Tsu continues. "Actually, that's part of why I came. I wanted to apologize for that tongue-lashing yesterday, ribbit."

... She wants to apologize? You ask her in disbelief.

"Yeah. Honestly, I've hardly been able to focus today, either. You and I didn't draw clear lines for what ought to be included in my work, ribbit... I took that out on you. That wasn't fair, ribbit."

You tell Tsu she doesn't need to apologize. More importantly, isn't it really bad if she can't focus? She's doing pro hero work!

"Exactly. That's why I wanted to apologize and clear the air right away, ribbit. No hard feelings?"

None at all. Actually, would she let you use your quirk? If she's not feeling at the top of her game, that ought to be just the thing to help.

Tsu continued to focus her mysterious frown on you for a tense moment, touching one finger to her lower lip... Finally, she gave an enthusiastic nod. "Phew... I was honestly worried you were going to hold it against me, since I didn't let you yesterday, ribbit. I could definitely use the recharge."

You take one quick look behind you, making sure nobody's joined your strange rendezvous with the publicly famous heroine. Since the coast is clear, you put your hand on her head. It's awful, knowing you're going to have to wait through a whole afternoon of classes still before you can see her again, but for now, you've got two things you need to do: first, one thing for her. As you continue to palm the top of the heroine's dark green hair, you use your quirk to address one of the big problems she'd just alerted you of, planting a new control.

When you're not in my apartment, you won't think or worry about your work in my apartment any more than you need to in order to be ready for it.

Lest anyone begin to think you were some great guy for using your quirk to take some stress off of your favorite heroine, the next one you gave her was a favor for yourself. Something to help clear up those unclear lines she'd mentioned a moment ago...

You'll treat anything I tell you to do as part of the maid work you owe me.

You aren't sure how much you're going to **** this, but it'll at least avoid the screw-up you had yesterday, where the two of you weren't on the same page regarding what was part of a sexy maid's work. Now, you have a pretty simple idea of how to make sure these two new rules are working properly...

As you take your hand from Tsu's head, you ask if she's feeling better.

Tsu seemed embarrassed. This was a pretty frank conversation after a display that probably seemed unusual and a little intimate to her, after all. Still, she gave a short nod. "A lot. Are you, ribbit?"

You tell her you are, and her apology is accepted. You hope she's forgiven you, too.

"Of course, ribbit. Water under the bridge."

Great! So, the two of you have apologized as friends. That means all she still owes you is an appropriate formal apology from a servant to her master, tonight, when she visits your apartment. At that time, she should do the best she can think of to please her master and earn her forgiveness. She can think it up on the fly, so you want her not to think about it at all until then.

Tsu's eyes widen and her face flushes, as you'd expect from someone being told what you'd just told her... Then, as if her quirk-affected mind has just caught up to her, the tension leaves her entirely. "Well, I'll see you tonight, Ren, ribbit. Do your best to concentrate, ribbit!" The heroine shoots her tongue for the fence and vaults over it, disappearing as suddenly as she arrived.

You wave half-heartedly, wondering how you're possibly going to be able to concentrate while waiting in anticipation for the order you just gave for tonight... But, to your surprise, it's easier than you expected. Maybe that was all you needed... just to come to a decision? Now that you've settled on how things will be, everything's so clear. Outside your apartment, Tsu is just your friend, giving you the motivation you need to focus and do what needs to be done. Inside your apartment, Tsu is...

... Tsu is...

Sitting at your desk, realizing you've missed an entire slide of the teacher's presentation, you shake your head and resolve to put it out of your mind. Now that you've decided to be a guilt-free scumbag inside your apartment, some part of you feels like you ought to at least give a hundred-percent while you're outside of it. That way, the scales are balanced. Or so you tell yourself.

And the harder you try, the more you ought to be able to get away with, right? Or so you tell yourself.

Congratulating yourself for being a productive member of society and not a villain, you put your head down over your notes and keep your focus.

Now that you've convinced yourself to enjoy it, what have you got to look forward to?
