Is Jane capable of calming the angry mare down?

White VS Red

The fiery redhead did her best to make only slow and non-threatening gestures while getting closer to the angry white mare. Jane stepped over the rope that was still attached to Lety's neck without a second thought, if there's one thing the redhead learned from the time she passed with the horse and her brother it was that trying to control her would only anger her further.

"C'mon Lety, John will be back soon enough, there's no need for all this." Jane felt stupid talking to a damn horse but John always spoke to her so here she was. Her brother's name actually made the mare react, she stopped her stomping and looked more interested in the young warrior.

Jane wasn't expecting what happened next, Lety came straight to her and started to pole her nuzzle under her arm seemingly trying to throw it in the air. It took Jane a moment to realize what the mare wanted.

"You want me to mount you?" Jane questioned with a bewildered look. There was no universe where this would be normal for the princess, that horse assaulted anyone who dared to even touch her, let alone try to mount the beast. The first thing that came to the young woman's mind was that it had to be a trap, a trap that would end with her either crippled or dead.

"Don't" Dante's voice resonated with authority. Apparently, the King was made aware of the situation and had just arrived on the scene. Jane was a bit ashamed to feel relieved at her father's presence, it was just a damn horse for the goddess's sake. But it also had an effect on Lety, the mare backed away and Jane could see the mare tense up. She was clearly not happy about the interruption.

What surprised the young warrior was not only to see her father square with the white mare but to feel his powerful aura. She couldn't fathom why her father would do such a thing and even less seeing the mare not only standing her ground but looking furiously at the King.

"You have balls of steel, I'll give you that!" The king said seeing that the horse seemed unimpressed at the display. 'Let's see how you like that' Dante thought before pushing his magical energy out to make the display more threatening.

Jane watched as the mare not only stood her ground but calmly walked straight to her father, rising to the challenge. The king's eyes widened in surprise when a symbol slowly started to glow and radiate power on the horse's face.

"What the hell are you?" Dante wondered out loud. The king didn't have time to wonder much more when magical power seemed to course along the mare's skin, it raced from her center converging toward the strange symbol with increasing speed.

Dante took a step back and threw a shield in front of him, he also unleashed his power without restraint now. He could only watch with amazement, and a little fear if he was honest, as sparks started flying from the symbol until it culminated in a blinding light accompanied by a crackling sound.

Jane watched what looked like lightning impact her father's shield, at first it appeared to bounce on it without any damage but a few seconds later the shield started to disintegrate. It was like lights were eating away at it, making it unstable and slowly draining it. This was odd, not only was it not something you would expect from a lightning-based spell, but although lightning did have some degenerative properties, a combat shield like the one Dante was using was a channeled spell meaning he was constantly pouring more power into it. That meant this spell, whatever it was, was eating away at the shield faster than Dante could resupply it with energy.

If it was anybody else, Jane would have discounted it as the shield user having weak magical power or reserve but her father was known to be a monster in both of those. He had very bad fine control over his magic but it was mostly due to his overwhelming power and the sheer amount he had. Jane theorized that it attacked the shield integrity, in other words, it fights its control instead of power. It was the only thing that would make sense, to destroy a shield like that someone would need to sustain a very powerful stream of energy. Yet, Lety didn't seem to have to sustain anything after the spell was cast, it just ate away like it had a mind of its own.

Suddenly Jane's thoughts were brought back to her father as he groaned and fell to one knee, it took Jane some time to realize why, Dante had frost on his right hand and his sword was frozen solid on his back. She must have been so enthralled by the previous spell that she missed the follow-up. Her father must have reacted to the attack by going for his sword, this was a wise move in Jane's opinion. Her father was dangerous regardless but with his sword, it was on another level.

Does Jane intervene?
