“Hello there, sexy. What’s your name?” The Overlord smiles warmly, looking you up and down with appreciation.

You bite the inside of your cheek, not sure if you even want to interact with this guy. But, it’s probably better not to piss him off, if he’s about to get a forfeit from you. “Blue Oak, from Pallet Town.”

“I’m Nathaniel, from Lavender Town. You can just call me Nate though.” Oh, that explains the tombstone necklace. “And this gorgeous woman is…” He gestures for the brunette to introduce herself.

“I’m Diane, from Viridian City.” Her silky voice is low and pleasant, and you’re having trouble not ogling her barely-clothed body.

You return your gaze to the tall black-clad man. “So, you’re the ‘Overlord’, huh? Look more like an edgelord to me.” You smirk at him.

The pair both have a good chuckle, and Nate responds. “What can I say? I like the color black.” His expression shifts, becoming thoughtful as he regards you. “Hm… Pallet Town, huh? We had a boy from there come through here yesterday. Red was his name. You know him?”

Before you can answer, Diane pipes up. “Oh, she does. I had a look at that boy’s TPP last night, and she was all over it~.”

“I’m n-not-“ Dammit, you knew people would act like this! And she probably hasn’t even seen the newest picture, ‘cause that was this only uploaded morning.

“Is he your boyfriend?” The Overlord narrows his eyes, a complicated look on his face.

“HELL NO!” You shriek, instantly turning red as a Tamato Berry. You are not letting people get the wrong idea about you two!

The lanky guy seems to relax a little. “Oh, okay. Then I suppose it’s time for me to challenge you.” Did his eyes just flash?

Wait. Shit. What would he have said if you had told him Red was your boyfriend? Probably too late now…

“You’re the challenge-ee, so you pick how many Pokémon we’re using.” He smirks at you, obviously confident no matter what you choose.

This is where you have to decide; do you even attempt to beat someone who has competed in the PLT, or do you save your Pokémon the pain? Wait… save your Pokémon… there it is. If you just submit to him, you can at least try to beat anyone else who comes to challenge you. There’s also nobody here at the moment other than the three of you, so if you finish him quick enough, maybe you can get out of here before anyone else comes in to scavenge off of him. At the very least, you have options if you both do this quickly, and keep your partners healthy.

“No battle necessary. I surrender.” You look him dead in the eye as you say this, doing your best to appear calm.

The couple exchange a surprised glance with one another, then Nate turns back to you. “Are you sure about that? Don’t even want to give it a shot?”

“I only have one badge, I know when I’m outclassed. I’d rather not let my Pokémon get hurt in a pointless battle.” You state matter-of-factly, hoping he doesn’t see the ulterior motive behind your statement, true as it is.

There’s another pause as the two look at each other again, then they both smile at you. “That is… surprisingly noble of you, in my opinion.” The man says. “Most girls fight desperately, even when they can’t win. Especially when they can’t win. Some would call that courageous, I suppose. But taking the loss willingly, to protect your Pokémon… that is compassionate. I admire that.” The Overlord smiles, then pulls out his Pokédex. “Very well, let us begin. Diane, you get her started. I’ll send out a message to let everyone know. Though, how many of them are still asleep at just past 9:00 AM, I wonder? Hm…”

Your heart sinks. He’s calling in the pack. Admiration for you or not, he still intends to go through with this… “Hi there, cutie.” Your attention spins to the curvy woman as she walks up to you. “You heard the man. Time to get the fun started.” Glancing down, you see six Pokéballs on her belt… shit, she’s probably just as powerful a trainer as he is, isn’t she? Well…

Your mind flashes back to Red’s advice from just a couple of hours ago. ‘Enjoy it’, huh… You may as well try to, she’s super sexy, and he’s not so bad either. But you aren’t going to stop looking for an opening… you can find a way out!
