Filling Lisa in?
What Lisa Missed
As Zack drove, he looked over at the girl in his passenger seat, taking note of her clothes. Gone were the clothes she had been picked up in, replaced with casual joggers and a loose tee that someone must have brought in for her. A prang of guilt struck him for feeling disappointed she wasn’t wearing an orange jumpsuit. It was silly, since he knew they wouldn’t dress her in overalls until she was transferred to the state jail, but the image of her in his mind, the jumpsuit hugging her curves, and pulling apart at the chest to reveal her naked body underneath, left him feeling a tightness in his own clothes.
He cleared his throat, refocusing his brain on the road and the conversation. “You don’t know anything since you were taken away, right?”
“I wouldn’t say nothing. Only what I gleaned from their questions and talking to Roy,” Lisa replied, looking out the window at the passing town, never in her life been so glad to see shops and sidewalks. “Obviously, he wasn’t even aware of what was really going on because he never mentioned Hannah to me.”
“No, he wouldn't. In fact, we only found out by accident, and, by we, I mean Heather and Ashley,” he admitted, wanting to give the proper credit to those who had done the work. “But first, what did you hear?”
“When they first took me in, they went through everything in the bag and on my person. Then they took me to an interrogation room and asked me about the **** and about Robert,” Lisa explained irritably, not at being asked but at the very memory. “I said I didn't know him and that I was only aware of him as Heather's dad really. They asked me weird stuff though, like if he had bad knees. I wasn’t sure, but I recalled him taking pills before he went hiking to find Victoria that evening.
“That was bad. It showed you had knowledge of the pills before they were taken. Every crime requires three things, motive, means and opportunity,” Zack said, drawing on his love of detective fiction.” If they could get those on you, it wouldn't matter what the truth was.”
“Yeah, my dad told me the same thing once. I also knew to immediately ask for my lawyer and Roy tried to console me with the fact that they couldn't prove motive or opportunity. I had been out searching for Victoria in the evening and by the time I got back, Robert was gone, and Roy said my background was impeccable,” Lisa sighed, having learned that even being the good girl her whole life hadn’t saved her. “That I knew about the pills and they were in my bag was enough, and they had no other suspects. Mr. McRose suggested that maybe they were trying to solve it quickly because of Mr. Ravers. They wouldn’t want someone as influential as him to start badmouthing the police ****.”
“Was that the only time they talked to you?” Zack asked, surprised.
“No. They talked to me multiple times, sometimes taking long breaks, and asking a lot of the same questions, though sometimes phrasing them differently. Until my dad got arrested too. After that, they interrogated me and asked some more weird questions, like if my dad ever mentioned Robert or if I ever heard them talking about the cabin. They asked if my dad had ever asked me to do something to Robert, stuff like that,” Lisa told him, still confused by what it all meant. “Mr. McRose said they were going all out to prove it was me now, because the increased media attention of a crime involving a local police detective, a judge and a businessman meant that they were under a lot of scrutiny, and pressure to wrap it up.”
“So, they figured that much out, huh? I guess that they suspected your father enlisted your help to interfere with Robert’s plans to buy your cabin in Silver Lakes,” Zack revealed simply. There was no point being dramatic about it. There were much bigger revelations to come.
“What?” Lisa half shouted, her head whipping around to see if Zack was serious. “Mr. Ravers wanted to buy my dad’s cabin? What for? W…wait, you’re not telling me Heather’s dad had those **** planted on me to get to my dad?”
“That was our best guess initially too, once Ashley and Victoria discovered Robert had been buying up land all around Silver Lakes. But Heather confronted her father about it and, while he did acquire the land, he had no part in what happened to you,” Zack explained, deciding to hold off, for now, on telling her that Heather had done a little bit more than simply ‘confront’ her father. “Lacking any other substantial leads, Ashley talked to Hannah about it…and she confessed that she had planted the **** on you, to get back at you for trying to split up me and Ashley.”
“Holy shit,” Lisa’s mouth dropped. “I don’t even know what to say…really…that’s just so fucked up.”
“I know,” Zack nodded, adding a small smirk as he looked sideways at her. “Completely pointless too, since Ashley and I ended up breaking up anyway.”
“Yes, that is a rather nice surprise to come out to,” Lisa admitted, smiling back at him. Though as questions wormed their way into her head, she soon began to frown. “So, Hannah confessed, and Ashley recorded it…that must have happened earlier today.”
“Well, no, but it’s not that we didn’t want to bring it straight here. There was a complication…” Zack paused, thinking that if he were in the position of the police, he would have wired Lisa or promised her freedom if she got the truth out of him. It was exactly the kind of scheme he could see that detective pulling. But he also knew Lisa, and he trusted her. “Hannah had a video, of Heather and, um, her father, from…when Heather confronted him…well, let’s just say she used her mouth on her father in more than one way.”
“What? Oh, ew,” Lisa recoiled in her seat as she came to understand what Zack had meant. “Her own father, that’s sick.”
Zack thought about his own mother, his confusing erotic desires that had manifest towards her and Heather’s promise to help him fuck his own flesh and blood, and wondered if that made him sick too. He already knew the answer, and Lisa’s response, so he kept it to himself, instead chuckling nervously.
“Doesn’t it bother you?” she asked pointedly. “I mean, you said before that Robert might be your real dad. That would make Heather your half-sister. And they’re messing around sexually? How are you not just utterly repulsed?”
“I don’t know,” he said sincerely. He knew her reaction was natural, and right, but somehow his mind didn’t connect that way. He didn’t know what it was that allowed him to look at his mother and see her as another woman, a sexual creature. Seeing her in the cave, bent over and taking Robert’s cock had broken the perception of her as just his caring, nurturing mother, but he must have already been tainted in some way, to look upon her and not immediately turn away. And how could he judge Heather, if he couldn’t even sort out his own feelings?
Instead, he deflected, returning to the main topic, “At the time, I was more concerned about you. Hannah used the video, or rather the threat of releasing it, to keep Heather and Ashley from doing anything with their recording. I guess we could have let Hannah release the video and have taken the recording straight to the police, but, as you said, these people might be my family. I wanted to deal with this in the way that hurt the least amount of people, and so did Ashley.”
He continued, without letting Lisa reply, “From there, we devised a two-pronged attack. Ashley called in Peter, Hannah’s ex-boyfriend from high school, who would act as a distraction while Ashley and Chloe led Gavin into the apartment so that he could delete the video. Meanwhile, Heather convinced her father to appoint me as CEO of Ravers Enterprises, so that, in the event that the video was released, the company at least would be protected.”
“Holy shit. Everyone really went all out. I’m so grateful. And you’re the CEO of Ravers Enterprises now? That’s huge,” Lisa gushed, trying to take in so much information at once and processing it with what she already knew. “But wait, didn’t you say that Robert was trying to buy my dad’s cabin? Does that mean you’re trying to buy it now?”
Zack shook his head. “The Silver Lakes Project was scrapped, at least by Robert. The Board wants to continue it given how much money has already gone into funding its development, but Robert shelved the project, and he’s hoping to keep it that way. But he used my connections with you and your family to convince the board that I would be a good successor as CEO. Trust me though, if I thought for one second that it was actually going to happen, I would never have accepted the position. And even if I’m just a figurehead, I’ll do everything in my power to stop it.”
Lisa was quiet for a moment, then asked, “Okay, so what happened next?”
“Gavin deleted the email, and Ashley brought me the memory card with the recording. Last night I broke up with her, officially, for good, because…well, it just came down to a lack of trust. She didn’t take it well, but when she showed up tonight, she told me she was letting me go. And that she had let Hannah go free.”
“What? Why?” Lisa growled, her anger flaring. “After what I went through, I think it’s only just that she get a taste of what it’s like on the other side of the bars.”
“They’re still family. Even though Ashley knows what she did is wrong, and she does, she did more to catch Hannah than anyone else, but even knowing that, it would be no easy thing to feel like she’s betraying her family,” Zack suggested. “Just like me helping Heather, or your dad trying to save you at the risk of his own job, family is important.”
“You don’t have to tell me about family looking out for each other. That’s a lesson that’s been drilled into me plenty by my abuelas. But my own father also impressed upon me the importance of justice.” She took a long, deep breath, and looked out the window again, recognizing the surroundings as they neared to her home. “But I suppose, I should just be thankful. Especially of Ashley. She did a lot for me, it seems, so I guess I can forgive this. The other thing my father always told me was that there was a fine line between justice and vengeance.”
“Right,” Zack readily agreed, though saying no more as he sensed the on-going inner conflict of the Latina beside him. He remained silent, not wanting to speak until Lisa made it clear that she wanted to talk, focusing on the road for the rest of the short distance to the Rivera family home. He had spent plenty of time at her home whilst they were dating, and even after all this time, he still knew the way, Though, he briefly wondered whether he had the wrong house when he pulled onto an empty drive way.
“Huh?” she said, looking up and down the street, cheeking for her mother’s car, parked on the curb. “Where’s my mum’s car?”
Zack had no answer as he parked the car where they had expected to find Susan Rivera’s vehicle. Looking out the car window, he saw that the house was dark. “Looks like no one is home. Do you wanna go some place else?”
SMACK!
Lisa slapped her forehead. “Of course. She’s probably staying at the cabin. We had been spending a few days up there before I got arrested. With all the media attention around me and my dad, I bet she stayed up there for some privacy.”
“Shit, sorry, I didn’t think,” Zack apologized, and frowned. “Should I take you there?”
“No, it’s late. We can stay here for tonight,” Lisa opened the door and stepped outside. “Come on, I know a way in.”
Zack followed, getting out of the car and walking around the side of the house, slightly behind Lisa, giving him the perfect view of her round, Latina ass in her loose sweatpants. His gaze was rewarded with an even better view of her rump, as she bent over to retrieve a spare key from a fake rock beside the back door, her bottoms, loose as they were, pulling tight around her curves, highlighting the thick outline of her buttocks, giving him a very arousing impression of what was beneath.
Straightening up, she unlocked the door and led him inside, into the dark. He flipped the switch as she closed and re-locked the door, bathing them in light. Even then, in the silence that dominated the air, it felt as if they were trespassing. He could see that Lisa felt it too, turning nervously, and leaning back against the door, an immense expectation weighing on both of them.
“I guess we’re home alone,” she said what they were both thinking.
Two teenagers in a house by themselves, need I say more?
