What I Had In Mind

So too were many other people. I mean Jake was obvious, clearly he was enamored and with good reason. We weren't exactly in privacy but the booth gave us some measure of it and I could think of a whole number of things to do that would take full advantage of our little bit of heaven.

The people on either side of me, the hippy and the artist, likely weren't thrilled. I had to wonder whether their opinions would be different were the tables turned, if I had chosen them instead. I could imagine them being far more invested were they to have something to gain from things.

But no, I wasn't talking about them.

I was talking about our company across the way. The one that I was aware of. The one that Jake had no idea about.

Across the path Rachel was beaming at me, every bit the proud mama to her little bird. She'd watched this all happen and I could tell, with just a glance, that it was working out a whole lot better than she'd anticipated. I could tell as well that she was already formulating plans, though what those would be I had no idea but was certain I would soon find out.

Rachel had been so different than I'd anticipated and that made me second guess things. Not just about her but about others as well. About people that I had known, or sworn that I had known, who lived secret lives about which I had no idea.

I mean if she could be different than maybe...

Maybe Blake. Maybe Eddie. Maybe Lucas. Maybe everyone I've ever known.

Maybe they all had secrets that changed them.

But maybe that didn't matter right now. In fact scratch that, it absolutely didn't. Right now the only thing that mattered was the mountain of a man in front of me and the fact that all I could think about was summiting him and seeing just how much pleasure I could get out of the power of his form.

Of course not right now. Not here. No, that would be positively indecent.

"So what's the plan then, Sir?" I ask, "How exactly are you going to show me?"

My eyes narrowed, a wicked delight playing in the glint of them as I shimmied and stepped back towards the back half of the booth, putting distance between me and him while drawing him deeper into the shadows of it at the same time.

"What's the plan?" I repeated.

Jake bit his bottom lip and shifted his weight. He plucked the ball from where he'd set it and he spun it in his hands reflexively and he took a half step forward but he didn't close the distance, instead he took his time with me.

He looked me down. He looked me up.

He drank in every last inch of my body and took his time with it. Undressing me with his eyes and weighing me out with a approving glance and when he reached the top I gave him a slow twirl so he could take in the rest of me.

So he could see every last inch.

So he could tell that I was worth it.

I was. I was so worth it for him and I knew that I was to him. I was absolutely worth it in his eyes as they came to a rest on my lips and then flickered up to meet my gaze.

As he stopped spinning the ball and held it.

As he adjusted his posture, his stance.

As he shifted his weight and became like a wall to me, something impossibly immovable and almost intimidating.

Almost, but not quite. Because a man like him could do a lot for a woman like me. He could destroy me.

Absolutely. Utterly.

But maybe destruction was precisely what I had in mind.
