Werewolves are better than vampires

The werewolf lunged at Moira once again, her shield deflecting its blows. This time, however, it swept her legs, which caused Moira to fall to the ground. This left her open to an attack by Lupene. The half-man, half-wolf had a wicked grin on his face as he brought his claw down to Moira.

“Nooooooo!” yelled John, his sword cutting into the spectral wolves Lupene had summoned. The lycanthrope had constantly been summoning these wolves while fighting Moira and John. The two had decided Moira would focus on the boss and John on the adds. Sadly, the boss proved too strong for just Moira, who early in the battle had switched to a more defensive fight.

“Hahahahaha. You two shall not leave here alive! My pack shall feast on your bodies and use your bones as chew toys!” declared Lupene as he swiped again at Moira’s chest, his claws scraping across her armor, leaving scratches. John finished with the adds and used Charge on the werewolf. The attack’s stun allowed John to follow up with a Slam and Sunder Armor. John swung his sword around for another attack but Lupene was quicker, his arm connecting with John’s chest, which sent him flying.

“Maybe I should just end you quickly. At least with the girl I can make her a bitch to repopulate my pack,” said Lupene as he approached John, his wicked grin showing his razor sharp teeth, “You shall feed the pups. After all, no need to waste perfectly good meat.”

John felt his anger rise. Anger that he couldn’t fight with Moira. Anger that he couldn’t beat Lupene. Anger that he was going to die again. Anger that he hadn’t been useful, anger that had finally boiled over. As Lupene got within striking distance, a brilliant flash of light burst forth from John.

Game hack activated. Berzerker skills unlocked. Power increased by 100%. Warning: System reset in 5 minutes!

John felt a new found sense of power. He saw Lupene was blinded, so he grabbed his sword and brought it down on him. He felt his rage pour over him, and the more he swung his sword at Lupene, the more power he felt.

“This power! Where did you get this power?!” yelled Lupene. “You shouldn’t be this strong!”

“I’ll kill you!” was John’s reply as he unleashed another Barrage on the lycanthrope. The creature’s HP steadily went down. Lupene could no longer withstand the onslaught of attacks and collapsed.

“Ha…ha…Looks like you really are going to kill my entire pack,” Lupene commented between his coughing up blood.

“Die you son of a bitch!” were the last words Lupene heard as John brought his sword down, stabbing Lupene into his chest and twisting it, ensuring the werewolf’s ****.

John stood over the dead boss, panting. His anger and rage still not sated. That’s when he heard it, whimpering. He looked around and saw it was coming from the cave. He pulled his sword out of Lupene and headed towards the cave.

“Trust me, this’ll be best for both of us,” said John as he slaughtered the puppies, their howls of pain falling onto deaf ears. John collected the loot from the puppies and made his way back to Moira, his anger finally subsiding as the mysterious hack seemed to have been reset.

“Moira, are you ok?” asked a now worried John, his head clear. Moira groaned and made some noises.

“Moira! Wake up!” John exclaimed at Moira who finally began to rouse from her knocked out state.

“Ugh, what happened?” Moira asked as she sat up.

“I beat the boss.”

“What? You? There’s no way. You aren’t strong enough yet! Not even I could defeat it!” exclaimed Moira. John felt his anger rise but mentally suppressed it, not wanting to deal with that strange hacking thing again.

“Yes I did! Maybe I’m stronger than you think! That ever cross your mind?” accused John. Moira once again brought her head down in shame at John’s words.

“You have once again shamed me, John Newman. I seem to be doing that a lot, I apologize. Maybe I should give you more credit,” Moira admitted as she got to her feet, “But I believe we have spent enough time in this barrier, no?”

“Yeah, I agree. I got some items I need to look over,” said John as he dispelled the barrier. John and Moira walked to her motorcycle and quickly drove to John’s house. The two said their goodbyes and John went into his house and was greeted by his mother.

“Hi honey, how was your day?” she asked as she continued to cook dinner. John went over and kissed his mom on the cheek before answering.

“It was good mom. Worked with my partner again. We’re making good progress.”

“I’m so happy for you honey! Dinner should be ready shortly. Why don’t you go put your stuff away and I’ll call you when it’s ready?” Mrs. Newman suggested.

“Good idea mom, I’ll be in my room,” said John as he bounded up the stairs and headed straight to his room. “Ok, let’s look over this loot I got.”

Hmm, I wonder,” John said as he opened his character sheet and saw no mention of the Game Hack ability. “Huh. So it's not on there. I wonder how I activated it? I have a hazy memory of just nothing but anger and hatred. And killing the boss and something else maybe? I don’t know. I don’t think that move is good.”
