Chapter 347
by
The Other Guy
The Royal Baths with Isabelle, and the others, but ISABELLE? Is that a safe thing for you to do without find a way to escape?
Well you did want to see the Royal Baths so might as well make the most of this
As you walked causally with the Princess in the public street without any guards or a carriage, a thought occurred. Anastasia had a personal bodyguard, Mary had, aside from herself, at least a few of her personal guard around every time you'd seen her, yet Isabelle was totally alone with an ambassador. That spoke of either supreme confidence by Aurora of her youngest daughters ability to defend herself, or Isabelle had ditched the carriage and escort. Or Aurora was aware that Delilah was near your level, despite her never having displayed that fact.
The conversation between the four of you was light enough. Isabelle did seem to be taking her role as tour guide seriously, detailing the gardens of the academy hill that you walked around, including a surprising amount of detail on the names and roles of each plant. When you left the hill's side she pointed out buildings of importance, historically, economically and culturally. You found it rather fascinating and you contributions petered out as you were engrossed in the details.
"When did you become betrothed to Princess Mary?" Felicaite asked, after your silence seemed to be noticed.
"According to the Queen three weeks ago." You answered, referencing when she'd announced her plan to you. It felt like a lie but fucking with the diplomacy between two countries just because you weren't 'technically' engaged just fucking, a lot.
"But you've been spending so much time with Princess Anastasia." Isabelle said, jumping onto your comment with all the grace of the predator she appeared.
"Princess Anastasia and Christopher and in a Hanun, a collective relationship, with a few other nobles." Eve said smoothly. "The golden inscription, was that inlaid before or after your infusion?"
The stone women to your let out a surprised noise. "It was before. I was unaware anyone would be aware of my people."
"Just a passing knowledge. Since it was before that must mean you were carved with your current appearance." Eve said, her tone baring a passing similarity to Aurora's when she was deducing something. "Oh that's why she's so pretty." Delilah added.
Felicaite chuckled. "Humans have always preferred those who talk to them to be attractive." She looked at you and we weren't sure if was to confirm that you found her attractive or that she found you attractive. After a second of thought, seemed obvious it was the former.
"I'm sure Christopher would agree." Isabelle sounded like she was planning something. "He does have, many women, talking to him." There was a snicker from the audience that you had actually managed to tune out for the most part. You blushed at the, to be fair, earned slut shaming. "My I present the Royal Baths." She announced as you turned a corner.
You'd been walking to the coast from the academy but you hadn't really put together that the baths would be near where the water was. Sitting on edge of the cities expansion against the ocean was a building. Short, only two stories, still taller than most of those around it. It's whitewash was painted with flowers in the royal blue and red, a mural that covered it's surface making it stand out despite the otherwise bland shape itself. Behind the building front the back half transformed from the stone to glass. Expanded into the ocean itself the glass walls shimmered with the fading light from behind you, making the building look like it was rising out of the ocean itself, a giant sea creature sleeping on the beach.
Isabelle took you all towards the entrance and the sound of the waves lapping at the glass structure grew louder. "Is the water inside salty?" Felicaite asked reaching up to brush the moss on her head.
"Only the largest, there are private salt and fresh water baths for nobles." Isabelle said. "Would you care to join us inside?" She reached down and locked her elbow with Delilah, who seemed one half shocked the other half vindicated.
Felicaite hummed. Given she was stone you didn't see why she'd want to, even more so since it could damage her moss hair depending on the water. "Will you be joining us as well?" She asked you.
Will you be choosing to spend even more time with Isabelle?
