We Need to Talk About Aaron
Katie was wearing a hot pink miniskirt, with matching heels and a yellow top that accentuated her large bosom today. She'd started dressing more sexily since the incident. Douglas originally thought she was still trying to seduce him. But he eventually concluded she determined he wasn't a threat whatsoever.
"Hey, Douglas," she said, getting a cup of coffee.
"Hey, Katie," he responded. She sat down across from the table from him.
"We need to talk about Aaron. He looks up to you, you know?" Katie said.
"Yeah. He's a good kid," Douglas replied. He got along well with Aaron, and they had a father-son bond as close as could be formed given that Aaron didn't know Douglas was his birth father.
"He's having a difficult time in college," Katie said.
"Oh?"
"I think," Katie said, lowering her voice to a whisper conspiratorially, "that he has a crush on his roommate DeShazior. But he is too much of a pansy to act on it."
"Oh," Douglas said, frowning. Well, he'd never even said a word to most girls, Douglas thought. "But what does that have to do with me?"
"Well, he looks up to you. And Luther's interested in you. He really, really is. So since you aren't one for women ... why not take him up on it? Show Aaron it is a validly choice. And make help unlock him and get him out of his shell a little."
Douglas's frown deepened. He wasn't particularly interested in Luther ... and Katie had drawn the wrong conclusion from the incident. But if that was how Aaron was wired ... was there any harm in it? He wasn't getting any pussy, that was for sure.
