Chapter 6

Who do you want to follow?
Wayne
[Enter: Wayne, Clive, John, Howard]
Howard:
I fear these bombs will be the undoing of our land
Nothing we have come up with can withstand
The deadly nuclear forces that could be arrayed
If our neutrality is not sufficiently displayed
A nuclear war could wipe our civilization out
Of that - we all agree - there is no doubt
Clive:
To say we’re neutral is surely to jest
When our government has made their quest
To support to the hilt this Borderland
That poked the bear, and now has found themselves out-manned
John:
We cannot change the politicians minds
They began by assuming true what they wanted to find
They will continue to cow-tow to the Republic
Even if it’s against the best interests of their own public
Neutrality would have served us well
But now I fear there will be no one left to tell
Of the mistakes our government has made
So other nations can be warned against future crusades
Howard:
This talk does nothing to assist
Us in clearing up this mist
We have to find a way
To keep these nuclear bombs at bay!
What about designing a shield?
Perhaps some energy could be used?
John:
This has been examined from every angle
It is a mystery we’ve not been able to disentangle
We have turned upside down
And shaken all parts of this theory around
Our knowledge is insufficient
We must become more proficient
If we hope to utilize
Energy in a manner that is both effective, and wise
Wayne:
I have been searching the internet
To see what other nations have done to alleviate this threat
India has built an anti-nuclear shield
By combining advanced sensors, and anti-missile walls they have appealed
To technology capable of blocking radiation
To guard against the damnation
Of a nuclear attack
Clive:
That is all well, and good
But our defenses should
Include a mechanism to prevent nuclear missiles from hitting
This land in which we all are living
Wayne:
Wait a bit my good Clive
I have an idea to bring those mechanisms to life
To intercept nuclear torpedoes
Could we not use artificial intelligence to veto
Their attempts to hit a target?
Howard:
That is well worth thinking of
Perhaps our combined counsel can develop it enough
That this idea, we could practically try
In hopes it can protect our skies!
[Exit all]
What's next?
Object-Orented-Living
A World Where People are Treated as Objects
This story has the premise that everything, and everyone is an object, and that we should all treat each other like objects. Men are treated as success objects (as Dr. Warren Farrell has said). Women are treated as sex objects (as the feminists have said), and children are treated as hope objects.
